Suitable USB webcam for g81ref device?

Does anyone run a webcam on a G-Box g18ref clone (running Matricom v1.1.5 firmware)?

If yes - what make / model do you use? Does it work with Skype?

    Thanks

Hi JW.... I should have replied to you're thread "new rom 1.1.16"... I've got another MX2 on order but in the meantime. I've played around with a few different roms and at the mo I'm using the latest Matricom 1.1.16.... with a Logitech C270 HD webcam..... Been Skyping to sis in Canada, daughter @ Uni, works a treat. It appears that with their latest rom they've added many more drivers.... It wouldn't work when running 1.1.15.

Prior to switching to the latest Matricom rom, I've had xbmc linux running.... good, but I now think with this latest Matricom rom the box is almost perfect. YMMV

    Regards
    Peter.

Hi Peter - my word - you have been a busy bee

I am toying with trying the v1.1.6 firmware.

Can you help me with a few queries?

      (a) After flashing the v1.1.6 firmware - what version XBMC did you install or does it come with one? If YES - were you able to restore a previous XBMC backup?

      (b) After flashing v1.1.6 have you tried running CWM off an SD card to make a nand backup? If yes - does it work (i.e. have you made a full restore?) I ask since I'd like to flash v1.1.6 with a "safety-net of being able to restore my current CWM backup of my v1.1.5 installation"!

      (c) Is the overall v1.1.6 experience (apart from being able to use your webcam) a better experience? Any issues with XBMC or streaming HD video?

Sorry for so many questions Peter; but as the weekend is here I'd like to dive in & give v1.1.6 a whirl.

      Cheers

        1. Sorry for the late reply, I'm running the version that came with 1.1.16... runs fine. I'm reading that folk are still have problems with vob files, doesn't affect me... all my rips are in the mkv container. They stream flawlessly from my nas (smb). As far as backup of xbmc....because the new rom is running a different ver I didn't chance my arm, I did a complete new setup which I have now backed up using xbmc backup plugin.

        2. As yet I've not been brave enough to try cwm.... not after reading Benni's experience. I will at some time get to it.

        3. Comparing the two roms (15 &16)....not sure I'm seeing any difference, though there may be.

        Regards
        Peter
