MX10 android 7.1.2 HOW TO ADD HDR

    Hello everybody,
I have a MX10 Tvbox under android 7.1.2 rooted, everything runs well but when I try to play a video in h265 HDR 10bits with Kodi (last update) I only have an SDR rendering. Why ?
How to solve the problem ? I saw RK3328 roms with HDR rendering possible I think in particular of the ROM of @ mo123 ..
    Thanks the team ..

    On the mainboard, it's MXQ-RK3328-D4_A VER:1.0 Date: 20170713

You need to ask the manufacturer for updated firmware.
      Your firmware is completely broken.
It's not something you can fix on your own since it requires changes to several dozen files in Android source code that compiles into different files.
Kodi and HDR also works best on Android 9.
You can perhaps try an old 4.4 kernel LibreELEC image and see if one boots on your device, HDR will work correctly with it.

Hello, can I try to install the android 9 firmware directly or do I have to update all the updates between my version and android 9 first ??
              Thanks

You can only install firmware directly since each firmware is different and for different devices.
I hope you have the correct stock firmware backup to go back to if things go wrong since there are so many MX10 clone devices, each with different components and firmwares.
But there will still be a 90% chance HDR will not work since all these firmwares are too old(uses old source code of a year ago even if the firmware date is April 2020) or full of bugs.

                  Thanks mo123..
It would seem that LibreElec is the best choice after all ... Or buy a new tv-box..
                  :-(

                    Hello,
So small return of my tests, I did not dare to test the firmware MX10 android 9 but I tried several versions of LibreElec under kernel 4 and under kernel 5, it starts well but I can't see a Smooth playback of my videos as H264 as H265, plus various audio problems including DTS-HD .. In short, nothing conclusive, the firmware version android 7.1.2 rooted seems to be the most efficient in video playback under Kodi 18.6 both H264 and H265 On the other hand no HDR the videos are read in SDR but remains fluid and of very good quality all the same.
If someone has tested the MX10's Android 9 firmware, I'm curious to have some feedback on the fluency of video playback under Kodi as well as on compatibility with the various audio formats (Dolby, DTS, HD, ... )
Thank you all, looking forward ..

As far as I'm aware Dolby, DTS-HD, True-HD, DTS-HD MA also doesn't work on the MX10 Android 9 firmware.
If HDR playback is very important, you could buy a Xiaomi Mi or FireTV 4K stick when they are on special for $25, less than 2 hours minimum wage(US), you can't get any cheaper or a Ugoos X3. These no-name MX*, H96* devices might seem cheap with lots of supported features but 90% is bogus and don't work, when you want to use advanced features afterwards then you are stuck and wish you'd rather spent $10 more and bought a reliable device instead.

                    Hi,
                    I've tested rk3328_d4_7.1_rtl8723bs_20180705_r1_root from Silver
It works very well on my MX10 and so I was able to test FTMC with the adaptation of the frame rate and it works very well.
On the other hand, to read my video h264 and h265 if I activate 'accelerate RK codec' I have no image only the sound is read. Once I deactivate RK Codec it works very well and even better than under Kodi 18.6, The image is much more fluid, when I press 'o' during reading I see that I use 'amc-h265 (S)' or 'amc-h264 (S)' for the decoding of the image. .
I find it strange not to have the same results using Kodi, impossible to change the resolution frequency, less fluid rendering ...
Only problem with FTMC, impossible to have sound in DTS-HD while with Kodi 18.6 no problem with sound ...
Is there no way to add the option to adjust the resolution frequency and the 'amc' codecs directly in Kodi ..?

Only if the manufacturer added it.
On my MVR9 Pie firmware auto frame-rate switching is working perfect with Kodi 18.6.
If you want fancy features, you have to spend more and buy a decent device, cheap no name devices can't be fixed afterwards to add such features.

Yes im sorry RK-Codec does not work in my ROM, i cannot fix such issues, glad it does work good toh you can feedback on my thread aswell.

Also no way to add HDR to firmware i am not manufacturer i can only improve firmware not add suff, that is not designed in kernel
