    mk808b and 3D performance

    Hello everybody,

I have a question to which I couldn't find any answer in this forum yet. (If I overlooked it, I'd be happy to be pointed to the correct thread.)

In another thread, I also asked about 3D performance (referring to AnTuTu). Everybody was benchmarking it with receiving framerates of 25fps and higher, while I am stuck around 7 fps for AnTuTu's "epic citadel" benchmark animation. I tried several suggestions (removing SD-card or keyboard while benchmark, attaching a second power supply, tweaking CPU speed with "rom tools", etc.) but nothing has worked so far, I am always stuck and those horrible framerates.

I have also tried that with different roms (digitop, Finless, etc.), but nothing changes. What got me curious now, that a friend of mine (with a mk809-ii) received the same low framerates. So maybe, I am just missing out some settings to "activate" 3D acceleration? Does anybody know and is willing to tell me, if I have to change some regular settings to make full use of my mk808b's powers? I checked the settings and have left all rendering and GPU settings at default values (since I have to admit I am not quite sure what to do about them). Is there anything I need to change? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you guys for this excellent forum. I am quite content (apart from the benchmarked fps) with my mk808b, and to a large extent this is thanks to the help from this forums members. So, thank you all very much, to anybody helping out here!

I know some of the settings in the development section in settings can have detrimental performance to GPU rendering - you won't need to activate anything for 3D performance.

Antutu do a 3D benchmarking program called 3DRating for OpenGL ES 2.0 - Download it and report back your score.

I think you are mixing up something here.
AnTuTu and Epic Citadel are two different benchmark apps. On the 3D part of AnTuTu a value of around 10 fps is perfectly normal for a mk808b. On Epic Citadel, you should get a value of 25-30 for a stock rom.
Here are the links to the Apps on Play Store:
      AnTuTu
      Epic Citadel

Thank you very much for your concern. I installed this 3D benchmark app, but I cannot start it. It launches and the START and EXIT buttons appear, but I can't click either of them. That's so weird. I am running "MK808b digitop mod MINIX NEO G4 port". Maybe I should switch back to finless 2.1?

Thanks again, phinc, for clearing that out. I feel really stupid I had no idea, and I was already about giving up hope. So, thanks for the clarification. I will give the "REAL" citadel a try now.

Edit: I just tried it and that benchmark gave me a score of 31 fps average. Sorry for bothering you guys. But thanks to you, I feel really relieved now.
