From the marketing, this appears to me to be squarely aimed at being a media/gaming machine, so I would not really expect any form of raid to be included.

As usual though, regardless of the hardware functionality of a device, the software is where the real effort is almost always the really weak point that seems never to be really addressed by any vendor.

In this case, as far as hardware specs are concerned, the current discounted price seems reasonable, although unless it stays there, then it might lose it's value.

With 2 3.5" drives added to the mix, cooling will be of prime concern and is again, something all too often receiving less than the attention that it deserves, so will be interesting to see what temps are when both bays are fully loaded and the SOC gets maxed out with gaming and high end playback.

I'm surprised that no vendor besides Khadas has gone beyond the S922X for the A311D to give that little extra punch to performance.

But for linux distributions you can find lots of guides on internet, an examples is below.

      https://www.tecmint.com/create-raid0-in-linux/

It is easy to setup software raid for Corelec because mdadm is available via entware.

      ssh to Corelec,
      # installentware
      # opkg update
      # opkg install mdadm

      # shutdown device and insert harddisks if you didn't already.

for the rest of instructions follow the guide from the link above.
      Sweet. Thanks.

Be interesting to see how this beast performs,
Android does not really support raid, I gather it will be HDD connected to Sata or similar, should be fine for storage of Media etc.
Heat on the 922x is not much of a thing really, and the case looks pretty breezy
Hope the power supply has enough get and go to keep it all happening.

A311D has things really not neaded for ths type of Box or the people its aimed for, nice to have maybe.

This is an email from Beelink about this new device.

          Hello?
We will officially start production of our new product GS-King X at the beginning of next month, GS-King X adds three audio ports on the basis of GT-King Pro, which are
          SPDIF 1 * SPDIF output
Audio (left / right) 2 * RCA output
Bal Audio (left / right) 2 * Headphone jack, 6.35mm
And can install two 3.5-inch hard drives, up to support 32TB, more storage space, can store more files.
Each GS-King X is shipped with a QR code. This QR code is generated according to the key burned by the machine. The QR code produced by each machine is different. The user downloads and installs the mobile terminal software provided by us. After the software is registered, you can scan the QR code attached to the machine to add the device, and then you can access the internal storage space of the machine through the software to implement functions such as uploading, downloading, and sharing.
The first user to scan the QR code will become the administrator of the device and manage other members who add devices.
And will support more platforms and GS-King X connection in the future, including IOS, Android, Windows, Linux, etc.
          So GS-King X = TV BOX + NAS drive

GS-King will be supplied with a Beefy 19v 3A/57w power supply that should be plenty of go go juice for HDD's etc

            Wont be long now

              19v/3a sounds more than enough.

Whilst the SOC itself may not heat up, with 2 hard drives installed, it does increase the way that heat is dissipated, so I'm guessing that fans might be required for heavy use.

I think that Beelink should show more about the precise spec on their website as there are going to be some questions that will arise from experiences with other devices with the same SOC, such as whether all 4 USB 3.0 ports will share the same controller and whether the hard drives will also hang off the same one, potentially reducing the overall read and write performance.

Important information for prospective buyers that want the nitty gritty up front from the proverbial horses mouth, so to speak.

Well we shall see on the heat, especially in hot countries...
I have 3 HDD's in my tower and is a big tower with a lot of ventilation, and in summer the disks go up to 49cº at video playing in a really hot day ( 30cº+ ), and 2 120mm fans blowing on them directly.
Anyway might do a build for this, clean android build from source of course!

I received mine yesterday, and it is a very impressive piece of equipment...... Still testing it, and will post a video of it, in a day or two.

I got this box. Well what can I say? Good hardware and very weak software.
Even there is no elementary Samba Server. The system does not see the disk formatted in NTFS and inserted into the box; it wants to reformat it. Only ExFat is supported. But the external USB drive in NTFS plays normally.

                          Scan that Code or something

                          New Box weak software normal,
                          It will happen
                          as you know

well dunno when i will get mine!
Anyway i do not expected much of the software, i don't really care much of a samba server as in android theirs already plenty of apps that offers that.
But ye the exfat only in "internal mode" mean a misconfiguration easy fixable in the sdk.
I bet Playready is also missing, frameswitch etc.. but that is expected.
I added playready and frameswitch natively support to the code of the sdk im using, i was going to rls it but i decided to wait for this one...

I could not connect, everything is in Chinese.
In addition, the remote control constantly loses touch with the dongle. From 4 meters it becomes simply impossible to control the box. And through Bluetooth I could not connect.
