Do you mean:
Kodi gets deleted?
or
overwritten by pre-installed version ?
Try...updating your firmware first...see preinstalled online update checker app
alternative (if its overwritten by preinstalled kodi version ) :
Does your unit have root access?
if yes...
Use a app like total commander.. enable root under settings.. go to:
/system/app ( see if kodi apk is there... if yes...delete )
or
/system/priv-app ( see if kodi apk is there... if yes...delete )
or
use total commander search... and find apk files under /system
just some thoughts
Anyway goodluck

From what i know about builds, after you have Kodi installed and you chose the build to install on it, after its done downloading and installing you have to force close Kodi to keep that build ....other wise i think it reverts back to the standard Kodi build.Force closing is important any time there is an update on that particular build also, i think this might help you.

no kodi doesn't get deleted only the build does it doesn't get overwritten iv got 18.7, i do force close kodi to keep the build, iv had android boxes for years and have put builds on them with no problems like this, iv had a friend that fixes computers and he cant work it out, iv reset the box , iv tried older versions of kodi, will look in to what mitchell4you has said and see if that does the trick.

Have you done a few things on the 18.7 before you put in the build?......go to the top click on the gear icon, then down to systems, then down to addons and turn on the unknown sources, that has to be turned on i think ...i always turn that on before i install any build and i also change on the bottom from standard to expert...dont know if it matters but i do it...
