These NEW Allwinner chipset suck. If you buy one you will regret it, the marketing pictures show it is made to compete with the RK3318 and Amlogic S905W, but I think it is actually worse because the software is not mature enough for the new chip.

The TV-Box X96Q MAX includes the Allwinner H616 SoC that integrates ARM Cortex-A53 processors and an ARM Mali-G31MP2 GPU. This mode is available in editions with 4 GB of DDR3 RAM and 32/64 GB of eMMc storage memory that you can expand thanks to the micro SD card reader that includes this Box on .

In the field of wireless connectivity, the X96Q MAX has Wi-Fi Dual Band with internal antenna and Bluetooth 5.0. As connectors, it comes with 3 USB 2.0 ports, a 10/100 network connector, analogue audio and video output jack, a digital audio SPDIF interface and an HDMI 2.0a video port.

Startup all good here, Wifi Connection 2.4 or 5ghz work as expected
A quick update found for soem HDMI issue lets do that...

Connection to Google Ok, updated One app at this stage
Simple Ui to use, Logitech K400 Ok ......

For the price and what you get 4/64 WiFi, BT what could go wrong,
Far more has been paid for boxes that can do far less,
I would say its on performance on Par with 905w and Rk3188
Some features may be lacking, like all these new Chips and boxes, time can improve things.
Does most as asked, not a top End Box but can be made to work pretty well

Plex I found played most of My library.
Kd player also can so what KD player Does (kodi)
Has Widevine L3 so we know the limitations of that.
Testing on a dated 32inch Sony TV 1080 only looking ok to me

Hello everyone, this is my first post! I recently purchased this model of tv box, and I really liked it. Despite what they say about the Allwinner h616, my box remains at 80 celsius in heavier games, which I even consider acceptable.

The only problem I had with this box is that when I tried to insert a memory card in it, it did not fit properly, and it was loose inside the box. I would like help to get you out of there. I see in this post photos of the open box, but I can't find the screws to open it safely, and take this card out of there ... Can someone explain to me how to open this model of box ?? Where are the screws ??? I just want to make a small opening and get that card out of there, to avoid any future problems, like a short circuit.

On the box, it has exceptional operation in 720p, is much more fluid than in 1080p. For a cheap box, so far it meets my expectations.

Same I was looking for the firmware too, or if anyone has tried to flash another boxes firmware onto it like the Tanix one, the one that comes with this box is absolutely trash, it's sluggish and runs like crap, my S912 box died and it is amazing how that box was actually alot faster then this modern one, sadly it's hard to find info on this box since the X96Q Mini keeps showing up in searches, and nothing on it at 4pda so blah so far this was a bad purchase, also the little clock somehow got set to 24hour time, its annoying, I think it was 12h time when i got it.

no root is a real downer too.

I got a X96Q Max Android TV Box yesterday. Installed Kodi and tried playing some local files, as well as web content and it lags like crazy.
Is there perhaps anything I could do to remediate this?
The content is 1080p.
Let me know if there's any information I can provide on this and where I'd be able to get it.
