    [17/10/13]New Official Firmware [MK802IV FW(131017):S/N from 201307**** till now]

    Hi,

October 17 2013, new Official firmware for Rikomagic MK802 IV (new wifi) is available for download here.
Some improvement are made in it, such as wifi more stable, enhanced streaming.
But the most visible is the screen rotation new feature.
The screen rotation is allowed now, we can place a button on bottom bar to rotate the display.

I have a very annoying issue with that. At some games the screen gets rotated, like 'cut the rope' game.
No way to turn it back.

Don't forget that this devices are used with TVs.
To play those games I have to turn my TV 90° (I have a 46 inch TV )

How can I force all apps and games to not rotate the display?

Otherwise, this stock FW is very good.

Tested this on MK809 III. Works fine although 1080p video playback still lags. On Antutu Neomods Hybrid rom is still better. Any idea how to extract kernel from this img file, to check it with Neomods rom?

        Tested on my Cozyswan S400

Original rom antutu score: ~18500 (lags at both 720p&1080p)
Neomods 1.7 Hybrid antutu score: 17966 (lags just a bit in fast scenes while it's smooth on slow-regular scenes at 1080p, didn't test it on 720p but rom is suppose to be smooth on 720p at all times)
MK802IV FW(131017) antutu score: 16841 (lags at 1080p as my original rom - avoid it), also the compiling date of this rom is dated on May 2013 if I seen it right - not that it matters if it's smooth, just saying.

Wifi speed seemed to improve on this rom compared to neomode 1.7, can anyone else confirm this?

Everything else was still shit so I copied the new rkwifi.ko file and tried to install it on neomode's rom.

Replacing the existing file caused the device to enter a crash and reboot loop, when I insmod the driver it crashes straight away as well.

I could test it but it's useless, not worth testing wifi if the video playback is terrible. Even if it's way faster it still is worthless

If the wifi is improved with this it may mean that someone can bring this improvement to decent ROMs.. Interested to hear your results if you have time.

                  With wlan you mean right?

I can try to copy from wlan to the stick and check my speeds with neomode's 1.7 I'm having currently to see if the problem only occurs in you

                    Hi,

I can confirm that the wifi signal and transfer rate is enhenced with this new stock FW.
But, the system is not so fast as a Neomode or a Finless one.

I am waiting for Neomode's new ROM update, I hpe that he will get some good features from this new stock FW.

                    Regards

I'm waiting for that too and 1080p support

P.S. I've got a Cozyswan S400 so I might have a small difference in the test, I try them later today or tommorow at worst.

So let me be clear, you moved a file from a computer to the stick or from the stick to the computer? (so I'll get a more accurate result myself)

i copied a file from a computer to the stick, about 200mb file and the copy rate was about 1.4 mb/s with this stock rom.

Let's see if my Cozyswan S400 with neo rom can do better than this (I'll have some news in a few minutes)

Was it a video file? or just small chunks of files(if are small chunks of files I can get why it was slow)
