    Cheapcast and ethernet

I have an MK809III with NEOMODE HYBRID ROM 1.7 installed and have recently switched to a wired connection by means of an ethernet to USB adapter (this one) because the wifi reception was not reliable (also, more USB ports). Internet and streaming media works as far as I've been able to tell, but when I tried to use the Cheapcast app, I couldn't get my phone to recognise my cheapcast-enabled MK809III.

It does work when I switch the connection back to wifi and the device recognises itself as a "Chromecast" when I open the Youtube app on the MK908III.

I was wondering if any of you guys are able to help me pinpoint the problem. Could it have something to do with the custom ROM I installed?

I hope nobody minds that I bump this. I installed neomode's custom ROM for the MK809III with AP6210 (version 1.9a) and it was still the same issue. I therefore think it is not related to the custom ROM I had previously installed.

Could it have something to do with my network settings or my router's settings? I can't figure out how to pinpoint the problem. Help would be much appreciated!

I've read somewhere that Cheapcast has ethernet problems, for me, it works sometimes and sometimes it doesn't. but on WiFi it always works (altho I only get a black screen with audio, but thats another story)

From what I can tell, the developer of the app added the ethernet functionality somewhere during August of 2013. From what my search on the internet tells me, pretty much everybody reported being able to use Cheapcast with their ethernet setup after that.

Ok I did some more testing and this is what I found:

I installed the Google Cast extension on my desktop browser. Similar to the situation with my phone, my computer (also on wired lan) does not detect the MK809III with Cheapcast.

When I install Cheapcast on my phone (and so reversing the situation) both the stick and my desktop detect the SGS2.

I can't wrap my head around this...
