Minix U22-XJ - Any way to permanently install TWRP to replace stock recovery?

I am seeing that folks have kindly started creating custom ROM for this device and that at least some of them include TWRP. I have a TWRP that I can enter from SD card only while pressing the reset button. I have tried various times with various techniques to replace the stock recovery with TWRP but have failed. I really don't want to replace my entire stock, version 004 setup as it is working just fine for me. But I would really appreciate a mechanism to install a good, working TWRP as a replacement for stock recovery. Any help/tips appreciated. Thanks!

It is not an easy swap to install TWRP internally, it can be done but not recommended, best to just stay with portable TWRP image zip.
