    Flash Finless without Windows

    Hello!

I don't run MSoft products at all. I have an MK908. In the past, I've been able to flash the stock rom by changing the name of the update package to update.img, putting it on the root of my external SD card, and rebooting into recovery.

I run either Ubuntu or Fedora Core Linux. Is there a way I can flash the Finnless 1.6a with ADB or some other method? Can I put the appropriate system.img, Kernal.img, boot.img...etc into one update.img and flash it?

    Thanks,
    Joe

      Windows XP

Ok, So I just spent the last 5 hours trying to flash this in an old Windows XP virtual box. I attempted to reinstall the drivers several times and XP said everything was fine. However, the Finless updater tool never saw the MK908. I tried installing all of the above mentioned drivers. The alternate tool also never saw the mk908.

I tried looking at it in normal mode, and flash mode (using the pin method) with 3 different cables including the one that came with it. I used the mini USB OTG port on side of the mk908. I tried different USB ports with and without hubs that were both powered and unpowered. One of my USB cords I know is good because I use it to move data between my mk908 and 2 external hard drives with no problem.

There has to be an easy way to do this in Linux instead. Any Ideas?
All of this has reminded me why I stopped using Microsoft in the first place.

      Thanks,
      Joe

        rkflashtool

Okay, so I found a linux RKFlash tool where I can see all of the NAND partitions and I was able to flash the individual partitions from the finless rom packages. I ended up with a boot loop, so I ended up re-flashing the stock ROM. Anybody know of a better way to do this?
