Pipo M6 Pro - Help/Advice and ROM Development

    Hello All,

I have just received my Pipo M6 Pro and I have been searching the web for information but I am finding things confusing mainly because of a lack of information and the M6 Pro - Max thing.

So I was hoping you chaps could help me out with a few answers.

    1. How do I work out which firmware I am on?

    2. If my firmware is too low how can you point me to a good guide on how to upgrade. (or explain how)

    3. As a bit of a novice is it the right time to be trying out RileyRoms?

    4. Do you know any other good Pipo M6 Pro sites for discussion and development?

Any help will be greatly appreciated

    Thanks

    Zoot

PS. I have the PiPo M6 Pro non 3G version

Download and install this original one:

Use the one named ota_20131015 that is the last one.
On the same site you can find the firmware installation instructions, BUT if you are unsure and if you are not having any trouble with the ROM you have already installed I do not suggest to upgrade.
Untill now original Rom or custom roms are amost identical: no performance improvement nor differences in stability.

The good news is that I received my test M6 Pro tablet today. I'm pretty sure my latest ROM runs fine...but I'll be testing...and improving support for this tablet.

Thank you for the download link.

I'm struggling to fine the instructions for updating the firmware.

I don't think I'm on 2.0 SDK and I would like the benefit of the update

It does not make sence is hardware is not powerfull. 32 bit wide RAM bus and ancient Mali-400. We need somethink like Exynos 5250 Cortex-A15 like in Google Nexus 10 with Mali-T604 and will be soon in SmartQ Ten5 and other tablets based on 5250

I answered to zootoxin. Not to your question.

In my personal opinion the m6pro with RK3188 is able to drive retina display quite well, it's not a rocket, but it is usable quite well.
Web browsing is ok for me and the games I'm using works like a charm.

I agree with you that generally speaking the ram bandwidth and mali-400 are overcame, but even with those "issues" the RK3188 works quite well.

Current issues I have are lagging browser scrolling and random switch offs.
After said switch off I have to reset (using paperclip) to be able to boot up.

I am hoping updating the firmware will correct these problems.

I just need to know what to do with the exe

                      Thanks

Pipo M6 Pro - Help/Advice and ROM Development

After having the tablet for 24 hours, I'm very pleased. I've tried both high and low resolution modes and don't notice too much difference in performance. I'm still on the stock ROM, because I haven't had time to flash mine yet.

I've had other 9.7 tablets, so I knew what to expect...but with the retina display, graphics really pop.

I ordered the tablet from Geekbuying.com with DHL shipping. I ordered it late on Friday 10/27 and received it on 11/4. Not bad. The funny thing was that I received notification that my order was shipped...an hour after I got the package. Whatever people say about Geekbuying, I'm still pleased with them...and won't hesitate to order from them in the future. Just stay away from free shipping. That's for US customers, anyway.

I'll share a little more after I flash my ROM.

Thanks in advance. Also interesting to know about sound quality and speaker balance. There were significant issues on M6 regarding sound.
