X96 Max Plus unreliable dual boot (coreelec)

Hi, I have multiple X96 Air's and X96 Max Plus' that I use on coreelec, one in particular has issues dual booting to coreelec. It's really unreliable and takes multiple attempts to get it to boot from the sd card, with me having to do the power + recovery button repeatedly till it works, it then works fine until it loses power for a few mins then it goes back to android and takes multiple attempts again. All my others work perfectly and boot everytime and first time regardless of power loss, and I can switch between android and coreelec fine with no need to do the button/power loads of times.
    Any ideas? Thanks

Testing Coreelec on Tanix tx5 plus deluxe 4/64
Hardware very similar Max plus 2/maybe your box as well

What happens when you remove from emmc and try clean install with different SD card?

If you haven't already tried that

These boxes are not related, despite the X96 in the name, like comparing apples and oranges.
Upgrade/reinstall stock firmware or try with any custom firmware.
