hyc thank you so much really appreciate it my wifi is working detecting networks now. I don't understand why the h96 website doesn't have link to these newer dated firmware files. I even had messaged them on the website and nothing. I was messaging online seller for a solution in regard to the product but no need for that now. Thank you soooooo much. You said you bought on aliexpress I'm assuming the seller must be the manufaturacter or supplier selling directly their considering they sent you the links.

Glad that's working for you. Not sure if they're the actual manufacturer, but since they're based in Shenzhen they at least must be located very near to the manufacturer. https://www.aliexpress.com/store/926...7cfcXifwXifwid

It's certainly a decent TVbox but I think I'm going to buy an actual SBC instead. Just to make sure I get a microSD slot. This one looks pretty good https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005005572756734.html and includes much more choices in OS.

That looks likes everything I would want but I would also like IR to power on the thing very important imo.

Mine is on all the time anyway, just in Android sleep mode when I'm not actively using it. The power button on my airmouse keyboard wakes it up. I use one of these https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005005235780156.html I might try this one out later too https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005005862911869.html

Yeah I've had few different models of airmouses currently using the Q2 model. I wish I kind of the got the H1 model while I had the chance with the full touchpad/keyboard on the back because they don't seem to be around anymore did order it once on amazon once for a stupid price only to have my order cancelled.

Welp. I received my USB A to A cable and tried to reflash the thing. No joy, the flash chip is definitely fried. I can read the partition list and the first couple partitions from it, but any attempt to write to flash gets an error. And most of the partitions read back as garbage, just a continuous string of 0xCC bytes. So this thing is just a paperweight now. Oh well.

Well at least it's an experience for you and you got to experiment. Since flashing the correct firmware the box now boots up to the homescreen so much faster. Speed of installing apps is a blaze on any tv box I've had on a stock rom. Was getting intermittent black screens and loss of display with my au plug that didn't come with the box though I knew the adapter was playing up. Now using the eu adapter the box came with and the travel adapter supplied and no more loss of display issues. Would be a nice feature if they added led control into the firmware though. I wonder if the led control apk from one amlogic box will work with this box. Will try report back if I do end up being bothered to give it ago with the results.

Not sure if it will work but did you try to put it into maskrom mode and then start to flash? The rkdevtool has go maskrom button in the last tab I think.

Yeah I was able to go into maskrom mode but I didn't try a lot there, it seemed I would have to write individual pieces instead of just telling it to send a big combined .img file. Also my first attempt failed trying to write IDBloader, which starts at sector 64, right after the partition table. So I decided it wasn't worth messing with it further.

Thanks but it's too much trouble to try now. My NanoPC T6 arrives soon and I'll be using that instead.

I've been using the Linux upgrade tool, I don't have any Windows machines.

The NanoPC T6 arrived yesterday. It came with Ubuntu 22.04 installed on it. I tried it for a bit but then tried out their Android builds instead. Mainly because I couldn't enable HDMI audio passthru in Kodi on Ubuntu. They have both Android Tablet and AndroidTV builds. HDMI audio has a lot of dropouts on the Tablet build. It has fewer dropouts on the AndroidTV build, but they still happen. Mainly while viewing 4K H.265 videos, so it seems hardware decode acceleration isn't fast enough, and the CPUs are too busy to keep audio flowing.

One other thing I noticed is the video glitches I saw on the H96 aren't happening here, so I guess that's a plus. Overall though it's a poorer viewing experience with the audio glitches.

                                OK

                                Read a review on T6
                                CNX Software JeanLuc
                                Nice machine

                                in Android Kodi Nexus Stable
                                With settings set to Expert
Should be option for HDMI PCM multi channel passthrough.

                                Or in Debian Desktop
                                Or Ubuntu
                                Try Install VLC MediaCentre

                                Test audio passthrough there.

Maybe in Future there will be LibreElec for Rockchip?
