S905X3 surround sound with Android ROM?

Hi there!

I own a H96 Max X3 hardware media player based on Amlogic S905X3 SoC. I've tried many different ROMs but couldn't get any of the Android ones to so output surround sound. I've also flashed and booted a CoreELEC microSD card which does have working surround sound (both decoded multi-channel PCM and direct stream passthrough).

I would prefer an Android ROM though so that I can not only use Kodi XMBC for local media but also have my pic of Android streaming apps, most importantly YouTube & web-browser.

Has any of you tried and succeeded on getting any hardware media player based on Amlogic S905X3 SoC to output surround sound with any Android ROM?

When you say "surround sound", I am guessing that you mean the HD audio codecs. And, yes, there are NO Android firmware's that do that, that I am not aware of.

yes well I couldn't get any of the Android firmware versions I've tried to output any sound except stereo PCM. With surround sound I mean both multi-channel PCM or HD audio codecs. So far I only managed to get either of those from my H96 Max X3 player while running CoreELEC firmware.

So I guess if I want to have a movie-night with surround sound and afterwards watch some Youtube, I'll have to start off with CoreELEC and after the movie reboot from emmc = into Android for Youtube. Not perfect but I'll manage.
