    Xtreme Box

    Hello...it has been a long time since I have been here.

    I am a real novice . From what I read here, I think my box belongs to this area?

    I wrote all this earlier...

    I have an old box here I have been trying to put EmuELEC on, but I reckon I have partially bricked the box.

    I looked at the Amlogic area to see a sub forum, but my old eyes have not seen the relevant area, so please forgive me if it is wrong to ask in this section for help

    Originally (yesterday) when the box was working CPU-Z reported it was this..

    Board = p281
    Internal storage 11.07gb
    Available=9.23gb
    Ram=855mb

    Perhaps someone could tell me the correct area in the Amlogic area, so I can post this correctly?

    I had EmuELEC on a usb stick attached to the box, and the box was displaying the EmuELEC start up screen, saying " loading".

    I was happy with that, and exited out, but on restart of the box (Amlogic (p281) ), the box would not progress beyond the initial start splash screen.

    I used the normal reset via the pin hole and power to get into the recovery mode.

    I can move through those and select any of them, when I select the "reboot system now" option, the box goes through the reboot again, but simply returns back to the former loop, and I go through the reset procedure to regain the recovery menu.

    I have also tried the options of:
    Wipe data/factory reset
    Wipe cache partition

    The 2 x wipe options give all the warnings, appear to do the job, returning me to the reboot now and other options again, I then press reboot system now, but so far, no changes.

    Moving to today, I now cannot seem to trick the box into recovery at all. My method has been.....to hold down reset, insert power, as soon as I see the power light, let go the reset...perhaps I am getting this wrong?

    Do I give up here, or is there any other options to explore?

    Cheers

    EDIT...I can access recovery again
    I followed a video tutorial'
    Wipe partition three times
    Wipe data/factory reset x 1
    Scrolled down to Power Off
    Box turns off.

    The person suggested lit would reboot, but it didn't, it just stayed in standby.
    I turn it on, and am back to the same logo screen

    easy now to get back to recovery, every menu in it works, quite a few logs in there too, but I don't understand them

    HELP

    I have been trying.

    I discovered that there is firmware on Chinagadgetsreview, it describes it the same, ala
    Firmware details
    Archive: 2614189 X96 TV box ROM firmware pack
    Model: X96 TV Box
    Firmware: Android Nougat 7.1.2 stock
    Image file size: 846 MB
    Platform: Amlogic S905W
    Image: 2614189 X96 TV box ROM firmware pack.img
    Product: X96W / X96-W
    Build number: X96W-userdebug 7.1.2 NHG47L root test-keys

    Can someone advise me if this looks the best thing to do?

    I have d/l the firmware zip, to update from pc to the box by usb, as well as the Amlogic USB Burning Tool.

    Please, am I on the right course before I actually commence?

    Thanks

        Thanks Mr Moderator,

        I thought I would look on here for the Slimbox Rom, and went here S905W

        When I click any of those 3 selections, there are no entries?

        As such, do I look in all the other forum areas to find firmware?

        Thanks

          OK...I got the burning tool going and started, it reports in DEVICE ID that it is HUB3-2, but got this dreaded result at the 7% mark "u boot/disk initialize/send command/error result " It
          Naturally I googled that phrase, and it appears, and hoping someone can help me here.
          Does this mean it is possibly just the wrong image file, and I just need to look for any other similar named firmware?

          Thanks

            Can I ask again please..

            If, like in my case, I can access the recovery mode, but after trying as above, it still returns to how it was, stuck on the initial log screen, what is a possible next move PLEASE.
