    MK822 RK3188 TV Box = Simular to CX-919

Well.... brand new to android media boxes got this cheap off ****. with little to no research . I didn't mind the firmware that came with it other then I just hate not having root and wanted a more custom rom to go into it. upon opening the box to figure out what might work I found it to just be a regular HDMI stick vs a real box ... the chips on it were similar to that of a CX919 . After checking things over again I decided to flash the stock rom that I located on GeekBuying http://blog.geekbuying.com/index.php.../#.Un0T_5zn-fA much to my surprise almost the rom worked perfect with working Wifi and Ethernet and fairly decent multimedia performance MX player working great with HW decoding ... this was fairly shaky/unstable with the original stock rom.. next up I decided to go with Finless ROM 1.6b that also worked but the wifi did not ever enable and I was not able to reboot without the rom files getting all out of wack.... So a bit more searching and I found some firmware that was basically stock with root and archtools that allowed me to install the clockworkmod for backups and flashing new roms http://www.arctablet.com/blog/forum/...ware-20130730/ ... figured i'd post this here incase anyone else has one of these Frankenstein boxes

Thx mitchell4you I did check out those threads good reading ... the main thing to remember if your wanting to flash this particular beast is that the main component is inside the box.. so for a sure otg port you can crack open the box and use a mini usb to usb cable .... I leave the power unplugged and not connected to HDMI .. and do not plug in the usb cable into the computer until you have your reset button pushed in ... then a few seconds later a bong sound should come from your computer letting you know your device is connected ... then let the flashing begin ... I'm almost positive a USB A to USB A connector would work on all these devices. just make sure not to connect power or HDMI to avoid any chance of damage .. I didn't have this type of uncommon cable or I would have tried myself. Once you have clockworkmod working you can flash via boot to recovery and connecting to the pc isn't necessary anymore

Mine does have a heatsink on the chip .. probably a a supper cheap one with just some double sticky tape on it but honestly i really havnt had an issue with heat so far ... I get my usb cable in tonight so i'll be testing .. I got the latest finless mod to work by adding the kernal from my stock Cx-919 mod to it ... after more testing I'll try and remember to take a few pics for everyone

just kind of a update ... connected USB A cable from tvbox to pc ... of cource with no power ... and kind of got mixed results while it didnt fry anything it did seem to be alot more difficult and was somewhat un-predictable... but I was able to flash roms and found it working with the back usb port of my MK822 TVBox ... since my post i have switched firmware and now go with rooted stock MK8021V firmware .... it runs a little slower the the CX-919 but its super stable
