Pipo M9 touch screen not working.

    Hello everybody!

I've got a Pipo M9 which I recently flashed a new firmware to.

Accidently I flashed a Pipo M9 PRO fw on it, and realised my mistake after a while.
So I went over the process again and flashed the regular M9 fw on it.

It booted up okay, so far so good.

But now my touchscreen isn't working at all. It's like the cable to the screen isnt connected.
I cracked the tablet open and checked the cable, and it's in place, so that's not the case.

I've tried many different roms and versions to get it working, but with no luck.
The OTG port works ok though, so I can navigate the tablet with a mouse.

Is there any way to fix this, or is my touch screen dead?

    Regards

    Anyone? :/

Is there any chance the touch might work with the right settings of some kind, or is it better to just send it back to pipo for them to fix?

Pipo M9 touch screen not working.

Someone had the same problem yesterday. It might have been you.

While flashing the wrong firmware MIGHT cause a hardware failure, it is pretty rare.

I would suggest finding the oldest stock firmware you can...and flash it. Sometimes a stock installation will reset everything.

        Thanks for the reply!

I just flashed it with a firmware from 2013-05-16, that's the earliest I can find.
But the touch still doesnt work :/

Any more tips or knowledge you're willing to share with me?
Is there a way to actually know if the touchscreen is broken, or if it's just a driver issue?

        Regards

Pipo M9 touch screen not working.

I just posted a new ROM today.

There is one for the new PCB version and one for the old PCB version.

There is a chance you have an old PCB tablet. You can try it and see.

            Touchscreen still bad

I am still trying to fix touchscreen for M9 Max.

            Flashed, with
            1. Riley ROM 2.2
            2. Kasty rom latest for m9
            3 stock rom english
            4. stock rom chinese,

I have done all the above atleast 20 times.... The only thing that is getting better is my skill at flashing the tablets without making mistakes

              Thanks for the tip rrileypm!

Tried it, and I'm afraid it didnt work.

Just as manpreet said, I've also flashed it with several different ROMs, both with the new and old PCB.

I can to 100% say I dont have the old PCB, as my Pipo wont show any image on the screen when I boot it up. It's just black (I can see the backlight go on, but nothing more).
But with a new PCB ROM it boots as it should at least.

So in other words, still no luck.

Glad I'm not the only one with touchscreen problems though :P Or, not really happy about others having problems.. but yea, you get my drift.

                Really intresting

So after pressing everywhere on screen and dragging my fingers all over the place, i found that the tablet's touchscreen coordinates are twisted by 90 degrees to the right. so moving left to right gets the screen or on screen page to move down to up

Actually, that's kind of how mine behaved at first.
The X and Y axis was inverted when I flashed my tablet back to a bootable ROM for the first time. But when I tried to fix that problem by flashing another ROM for the old PCB, my touch stopped working at all. Maybe I actually have a broken touch after all, and need to replace it.

Is it hard to replace the touchscreen by yourself? And if I do this, won't the drivers be a problem by then? I'm guessing replacing the touch isn't just a plug and play thing.. Or am I wrong?

                    Reflashed

Well i flashed it again, with riley rom 2.2, Added an external keyboard allowed me to get inside atleast, i am getting a hang of it now slowly. So if there is a way to fix XY axes it would be good

                      Great!

I know there should be a file of some sort in the root section, which has the X Y information in it. You should be able to edit it to invert them, as well as change the scale of the touch area somehow.

Hopefully someone here knows where it is, but I'll help look for it.

                        touch screen problem alternative solution

                        Hello guys,

I think we are facing problem found in this thread:

It seems that flashing of new rom has incidentally erased EEPROM of TS controller (no response at all), or "filled" it with wrong version (weird response).

So, solution proposed by Finless in the above forum thread might be making a custom script and try to push it to TC EEPROM via ADB bridge, effectively flashing it.

Getting info on PIPO M9 TS chip would be nice....

                        Anyone?

                          Great find!

Although I read everything, most of it was for me like trying to read chinese or something :P I'm really not that good with Android.

But it sure sounds like we might be able to find a fix somehow.

Finless is talking about a KO module. What exactly is that, and how can we find it?

Btw, I've cracked open my tablet now, to try to see if I can get any info on the TS.

The TS itself is made by DPT-Group, and the model number seems to be "300-L4598A-A00".

A quick google on that didnt show anything of interest though.

There is a small chip in the TS flat cable, which I've only managed to read "Goodix" from for now. The other text is too small to see without a magnifying glass or something.

Will report back when I got more info.

                            EDIT:
I think it's the Goodix GT928 chip. At least on my Pipo M9.

                            EDIT 2:
And this article seems to be confirming my thoughts about the Goodix GT928: http://www.pipo.cn/bbs/forum.php?mod...hread&tid=4207 (teardown of a Pipo M9 tablet)

Well you guys need to look at the dmesg log and see what it is saying about the touch chip.
I have never seen a rockchip ROM that programs the touch eeprom as part of booting.
Your best bet might be to ask PIPO for a ROM that does this.
