is there a way to flash w/o usb? my kid bent a pin on the usb and i cant seem to get the usb working on the tablet? is it possiable to flash from sd?

Sorry you cannot flash a custom ROM from SDCard. I can make a update.img but because the structure of the files system is changed, the recovery system will not handle it. I have tried many times to make that work but could not get there. It would take a fundamental recoding of the recovery system. This is also why we cannot get a CWM mod working.

I could give you what is called a Semi-root. That is, it will have root access but you will not be able to write to /system ever because it will remain CramFS which is a read only file system. To convert to EXT3/4 this is the area that is problematic for having a update.img that you can used from SDcard. Of course with the CramFS file system you will also not get the speed increases ext4 provides.

So if you want that, I can do a simple rooted update.img

hey bob first off hope everything is well with your dad now in your 1.5 instructions you say to copy file for app injector to my sd card im sorry but for a newbie as my self not sure how to do that is it there when you flash the tablet so after flash i copy to sd card or do i have to do that before i know some of this stuff but hey still learning thanks for your help i love the 1.4 rom and i really cant wait to move up to 2.0 for the 10b.

Hi and thank you for your work it was awesome.
But i am having a little problem with the video calling software like skype or oovoo.
Has anyone tried it?

I've tried different editions of skype (modifiered or not) and they all have the same problem after a few seconds of a video call the mic shuts down.

Oovoo on the other hand works great but the image of my video (as show to my partner) is rotated.

Can you help me out here please?

Skype is a known problem for all Arnova's and amy other cheaper RK29 tablets.

This is the only version I got that works but even then as you say the MIC seems to still have problems from time to time.

Like I said, just picked up a 10b G2 which somebody thought was a 10 G2 (and sold as such) on ****. Put this on it and installed everything from my 10G2 before shipping it out to Archos for screen repair and basically feels like a complete clone of my 10G2. Only thing(s) missing are: (1) full USB port; and (2) cut-outs don't fit my 10G2 case perfectly --- but will work for now while I wait for the repairs.

I don't like the resistive screen as much as the 10G2's capacitative screen. Too easy to press the wrong thing. Oops! There goes Pittsburgh!

Do I need to reflash or is there a simpler fix?

Yep, tried that. The device doesn't power off (I actually had this problem with the 10 G2 before I shipped it out). I'm thinking there's something I've installed that's not letting it power down, but that's not the current issue. (Fortunately, I was able to reboot via terminal mode).

After my previous post, tried to get into Google Play and it wouldn't go; so I'm going to wipe and reflash, since it didn't start out that way after my first flash.

Thankfully, Bob makes it pretty easy to wipe and reflash; and there are a half dozen ways to back up apps before doing it (I used terminal mode this time, because I couldn't connect the device in adb mode while it was screwed up this way.) Already reflashed and running app injector...... Getting so I can do it in my sleep.
