T428 Brick i think

When i power it on only red light, no hdmi or even pressing the recovery button it is detected on the pc or laptop.

I was playing with linux roms .... i f... it up didn't i ?

So you you need to open the case its hard but it opens like two plastic cases together. With a tiny screw it helps open.

So the chip is the same as always is labeled as SK ... nix
The pins are 8 & 9 and it's a kind of magic, magic, magic......

So, i'm having this same issue and am having trouble with the method described in the post for the mk808. My t428 will flash roms and erase the idb, but i just get a black screen when connecting to the tv. it just stopped working one day recently.so, i'm trying this pin method but nothing is happening. I'm connecting it to my pc through the otg (micro usb) cable and sticking a knife or pin into the pins per the directions and nothing is happening. Am i supposed to have the pin/knife in the pins and then plug it in or should i have it already plugged in before sticking in the pin? Any help is appreciated!


Edit: so i played around some more and was able to get it to go into mask rom mode. so, i erased the thing, flashed an old finless rom for the t428 and still i just get a black screen/no signal when connecting to my tv. help please - barely had this thing a year and hoping it's not ready for the trash!

Hi again.

You can do it with no trouble, just first link the two pins like you said with a knife or something very small and after that connect it to a usb port on a windows 7 machine preferably.

After that burn a rom on it and you can even burn the stock rom.

But be aware of this thins:
USB cables sometimes works others don't
Use a good power supply to to this operations or it will fail again
Remove sd card believe me

thanks - i was able to get it into mask rom mode, but still nothing worked. i did it two times, tried two different roms and and tried on two different tv's. i did try different power supplies too

i did not try removing the sd card though. i will give that a shot but i'm not feeling very hopefull.

Mask mode is a good way to go.

In my T428 i also wento mask mode, and on that mode you have to burn the rom not using the RKflash tool but instead burn the img from stock for instance with the rkbatch tool you have that one on the T428 HFW rom if you need it because of ftp down i can upload it for you, but it will take some time, my internet has slow upload. ADSL 1/6 Mb

Thanks so much for the offer. I actually had a few hfw variants saved to try but still no luck. I can get it into mask mode pretty easily now, I erase the nand, go the batch tool while still in mask mode and flash a hfw or stock rom and I still just get a black screen, nothing boots. I left the SD card out too. I think it may just be fried at this point.....
