    "Bloatware"

    Hey all,
    I renamed the Phone.apk and Telephony.apk to .old to get rid of them and so they don't take up battery power. Is there any other bloatware I can get rid of that you've have found? I've changed this one like I did on a Sylvania one I have and there were a couple other apps I deleted or renamed on the Sylvania. Just wondered if anyone found anything else that is just taking up space or battery power. Thanks!

    Be careful doing that to phone.apk!!! In my 1.5 ROM for other tablets it caused all kinds of problems in the settings menu and other areas removing that. We found there is a reson it is left in there even though the tablet is not a phone!

      Already changed it Finless. It caused a lot of force close statements but I rebooted the tablet and it works fine now. The battery even lasts longer than before. I did the same thing to the Sylvania tablet I own and it gave the same errors but once rebooted it worked fine.

        Phone.apk

        Yeah, Bob that was one of the bug fixes in the main Polaroid thread, it does cause errors right after renaming, but one reboot later and they're gone. Also, I'm making a new rom which removes the bloatware such as Weatherbug, Kobe, AOL, and all of the other apps that get preinstalled on first boot. In exchange, I'll load up better apps such as Superuser, Busybox, and the google apps such as gmail and market.

        Me and Sabercatpuck are also looking into the video/audio sync issues that are apparent when watching movies both in gallery and in Netflix. I think there may be something wrong with the built in video player. I'm going to try loading a different video player and see if the sync issues are still there.

          Just an FYI if you want FreakTab to host your ROM download.

          It's OK to put SU and super user in. OK for Google Apps too. The EULA's allow distribution other than Google Market.

          However do not put any other APPs in the ROM unless you have permission from the APP developer. Usually Emailing them gives you a yes or no answer. Even if the APPs are free on the Market that does not mean you can distribute them! We do not want to violate any EULA's and get in trouble here. I think we can all relate to the Megaupload shut down.
