    K-R42 3.1 PCB

    Hi,
I recently purchased an android box off **** that looks like a K-R42.

Using the original K-R42 firmware on geekbuying dated 20130702 or using the HFW 1.2.0 firmware by lewy20041 the box is stable and works.

However if I use a newer than 1.2.0 HFW firmware, justXBMC or wasser firmware the box becomes unstable, apps crash including xbmc and the box reboots alot.

Anyway I decided to open it and take some photos of the pcb and it looks the same as a K-R42 but with different model info on it. It has on it K-RK3188-V3.1 and there is no date info.

I have taken several photos of the PCB and posted them here https://www.dropbox.com/sh/fhmnbzjqlgxfcah/D1BPS5Tb5T

The strange thing is that I also tried the Minix Neo X7 - Finless 1.7 ROM and although WiFi and Ethernet did not work, which was expected the box was stable like the OEM Firmware.

I plan on trying wasser firmware again after work and adb debug the box to see if there is any more info. Is this the best way to debug kernel issues?

So my question is does anyone have any advise on what I can do to help or fix the stability issue.

    Thanks
    Neil

    Hi

Try wasser 1.2.2 firmware for k-r42 with OLD REVISION that works fine

      Hi,
I have tried both 1.2.1 and 1.2.2 wasser roms. I even tried wasser Kernel with justXBMC. It crashes and reboots.
On wasser 1.2.2 I used the old revision and both wifi and Ethernet work.

        Did you use
erase NAND (click EraseIDB button) before flashing the firmware ?

I did not but I did erase the nand in android settings and formatted data and cache in recovery.

I will however try that tonight.

Thanks for this. After using the EraseIDB my crashing problems have all gone away. I was able to get wasser rom to run stable and even better is justXBMC with wasser kernel.

I had read various info on how to flash these roms but never noticed anything about EraseIDB.

            Thanks

Yours issues sound very similar to the problems i was having http://www.freaktab.com/showthread.p...h-HFW-JustXMBC

I have also installed wasser 1.2.2 (used the eraseIDB as well) and my K-r42 also appears to be working properly so far with no crashes

I have been trying for days now but im unable to get xbmc to play any 1080p video for more than 5 - 10 minutes before crashing to the launcher.

I have tried loads of different versions of xbmc including compiling it myself. I have also tried both justXBMC and the different versions of wasser rom but it still crashes.

There has got to be something different about my box as reading the forums this does not happen to anyone else.

Can someone confirm that they are able to watch 1080p video on their k-r42 with out xbmc crashing.

Also I have pasted the full logcat here http://pastebin.com/LTXHqMMj perhaps wasser or someone else who understands the kernel side could have a look and see if its a kernel issue or xbmc as im unsure since I also get reboots sometimes.

                Thanks
