You can't flash .img files from any recovery. Ever. .img files must be pushed to a device by adb or another utility. In this case use the flashing tool included in the RileyROM package, just un-tick everything except kernel.

This does work well for me, but I'm probably more concerned about battery drain than getting my AnTuTu score to 20,514. The stock kernel provided 7 clock speeds (312, 504, 816, 1008, 1200, 1416, and 1608), but most of my time was spent at 312, 816, and 1608. With this kernel, the lower 4 speeds are gone, giving a 1200 minimum and 1608 and 1704 as the other two choices. It would take more use time to even see if the 1200 min impacts the battery, but I'd assume (never a great idea) a 312 minimum would be less of a drain. It is really hard to measure what drain "would have been". Did you try anything other than the 1200-1704 range?

I'm WiFi so no 3G and didn't have to do anything to get to Deep Sleep with either kernel.

The advantage of using Titanium Backup is that all of the settings for the particular apps you restore return to your system, so you don't have to set them back up.

For instance, I use Apex Launcher and have a simple, but particular way I like my theme/settings.

I restore Apex Launcher, and the theme app associated with my setup. Whenever I restore Apex from Titanium, my launcher is all there just as I originally had it.

I also use Tapatalk on my tablets to access Freaktab. When I restore Tapatalk from Titanium, all of my account information is restored as well.

Hi all, despite a lot of messages saying that the m9pro cpu can´t be overclocked, using the perl script published on another thread I have taken the last kernel from Riley (2.1) and created a new one at 1700 mhz CPU, 600 mhz GPU and 720 mhz memory.
It worked like a charm on my pipo m9pro, and now consitently I am getting over 20500 score on Antutu.
Maybe I´ve been gifted with a nice hardware set, so not sure if this will work for you. Bear in mind, please, that I just used the perl script created by another person (all credit for him!) and I´m not a kernel expert, so any question about why it could not work on your version probably I won´t be able to answer.
Stability test on Antuntu is pretty flat even after running it 4 times in a row. 3dmark score is between 10-15% higher than with stock kernel. Battery seems not be suffering a lot, I can´t perceive any difference yet.
BTW, I have applied the synch patch to the kernel to avoid frame skipping while playing video, and I can confirm too that it is better now.

Just remember that these tablet/computers do not have any passive cooling at all.
There is NO air circulation to cool the chips.

Heat destroys silicon chips, eventually.

Your best bet is to UNderclock these tiny computers when it is in a warm/hot environment, or when you don't need the speed.

But then these devices have a price range that places them in the 'throwaway' category for some people.

Indeed. I would like to strike a fine balance between a good buttery feel to the tablet and an adequate battery life. Since flashing to Rileyrom 2.1 (Thanks by the way!!!) I do feel battery drain is worse when switched on. So indeed, I'd like to be master of my tablet where it concerns clock & memory speeds.

Sorry to ask a dumb question, but how do you alter clock speeds in the kernel (stock or otherwise)?

I live in a tropical area and summer is approaching. Maybe underclocking wouldn't be a bad idea for non-intensive use.

I just got this tablet

FYI I can make patched OC kernels that give you lower speeds. There are 7 slots available so the patch script just needs to be edited to add back lower speeds. I did it for the Minix X7.

For those of you who have been having problems with wifi slowing down and not speeding back up, thanks to Finless Bob, we may have a solution.

From settings, go to the wifi setting.

Press the menu button (3 dots) at the upper right corner of the screen and tap Advanced.

Uncheck Wi-Fi optimization.

This setting is supposed to turn down wifi speed when not in use, but it never turns back up when you need it to.

I'm still trying to find a fix for the wifi not coming on automatically when the tablet boots.

No big improvement that I noticed. Think I'll revert to stock rom to save battery drain.

I´ve tried "Supercharger V6" and "Crossbreeder" on Riley 2.0, but also no improvement in user experience

Notice an improvement in upgrading from riley 1.7b to 2.0, so I hope that newer firmwares will also bring some kind of improvement....

This ROM is based on an official Pipo firmware release dated 11/20/2013.

This ROM has been stripped down to the essential apps needed for things to work properly.

I've added two new features which may prove to be handy to some users.

First, while flashing the stock recovery on the first boot, the system will automatically load CWM recovery which will take over the recovery duties from then on. The stock recovery is needed to format everything the first time.

Second, if you have certain apps you want to automatically install during the first boot...just insert an external SD card with a folder called autoinstall. Any apk file you place in that folder will be installed during the first boot. You can open the app drawer and watch the apps populate into the drawer. There a couple of limitations, though. First...there must be no spaces in the file names of the apk files in the autoinstall folder. So just rename them to delete the spaces. Secondly...certain apps won't install properly...like key apps that unlock other apps. I did have trouble getting Titanium Backup to work after installing this way on my tablet, but I was also attempting to install the key app as well, which might have screwed things up. So experiment away with that feature. If you want to extract any apps from your current setup, just use an app called Android Assistant, which has a feature that backs up your apk files to internal sd...then just copy them over to your external SD and remove the spaces in the file names. It doesn't really matter what you name the files, they will install with the correct app name.

Otherwise, this ROM contains the usual features:

Busybox Support
English Default
Working CWM
2, 4, 6, 8gb user app space (4gb is the default, now to make room for apps being auto installed)

Since this ROM contains a new kernel...back to the drawing board for you kernel patcher's.

This ROM is for both 3G and Wifi versions. As soon as I find out which files to remove, I may release a wifi only version for deep sleep lovers.

does your rom support sms ? how to configure device to let it supported ??.
