MK809III not detected by PC in Flash Mode

    Good morning
    I have a MK809III Quad-core, taken from DX.com.

The mini PC have some problems with video, losing some frames.
I found the matter is related to kernel version, so I would replace it with a custom firmware.

The real problem is that, when the mini Pc starts in flash mode, the PC don't detect it.

    Note:
There is a strange behaviour also in normal operative mode.
I connect the MK809III to PC that don't detect it.
I check "Debug USB" in setting and the PC still doen't detect it.

However I discover that, when you active "Debug USB", in "Setting" it appears another option: "Connect to PC". Checking "Connect to PC", the miniPC starts to be detected by PC, and so I can install driver, access to data, root it and so.

I have an idea: at startup of flash mode the "Connect to PC" is disabled, so I can't flash it. Probably there is an error in the stock firmware that disable it at startup.

Can you help me? Can I flash the firmware from other source, example SD?
    Thank you for your time

your model have a flash button , be sure that you hold it in same time that you plug the USB cable in the PC and release it immediately after.

      Meanwhile, thanks for the reply.
I thought the button was only for entering the flash mode.
      The correct procedure is:

      1) I press the button
      2) I turn on the device, which runs in Flash mode
      3) I connect to the PC
      4) Release the button

      or

      1) Press the button
      2) I turn on the device, which runs in Flash mode
      3) Release the button
      4) I press the button and connect the device to PC
      5) Release the button

Because I have another small problem: If I connect the device to the PC with the data cable, it will not turn on. I think the PC does not deliver enough power.

Try to use different USB port. Usualy ones on the back on your PC (directly connected to the MB not on extention board slots) are better, compared to ones on the front. If this doesn't help, try powered USB HUB.

Procedure about flash button is - press it any time the device is on, and it will go in flash mode.
no need to keep it pressed while powering up or keep it pressed for a period of time or something like that.

It is probably some kind of protection against random resets.
I have 3 different RK3xxx based devices, and all of them go to flash mode when you press reset button.

While doing the tests to train to hit the little button, since it is uncomfortable, I think I've already pressed the button while miniPC was in dashoboard and that has not been restarted in flash mode.
However, for the sake, to try again another time does not cost me anything.

I also have to try it with a desktop pc, since my Vaio laptop seems not to provide enough power from the USB ports to start miniPC (1 USB 2.0 and 2 USB 3.0, but the USB 3.0 could not be supported bu MK809III, right?).

The strange thing is that, once turned on, if I unplug the power adapter and leave the data cable from the PC Vaio, it remains powered on (-_-")

Thank you both for your help

That's not strange. It's because you feed the device with the 5V power from the laptop's USB port. I have an MK809iii (old wifi) and flashing has always worked by using the following method: connect USB cable to the large USB port only. No other connections, so the device is off. Press the reset button and while keeping it pressed, connect the other end of the USB cable to the laptop. Release the reset button when you hear a sound coming from the laptop. The device should now be in flash mode.

After further testing, I discovered a few things:
                  1) connect the mini PC to the desktop PC, Mini PC starts without additional power
                  2) by holding down the button and connecting to the PC, the PC detects something, but on the TV screen remains black

Can I proceed with flash also with black screen on TV?

Ok, test done: the PC sees correctly the miniPC.
Also the Flasher Tool sees the miniPC.
On saturday I will proceed with the flash operation.
                      Thank you again!

                        Hi, i bought a mk809III
download the MK809III AP6210 Version 1.9a *UPDATE* and the RKAndroidTool.
I tried to connect de MK to my computer pressing the reset button and connecting at the same time to the USB.
The result was my LAPTOP detecting it and then starting to search driver to install the hardware that was detect.
The problem is that, then the computer responded with a message saying, no driver was found, cannot install hardware driver. I already used all 4 Usb port, and the result was the same in all.

I already used the MK809III and install xmbc, addons, android apps, etc. But i didnt delete them ou reset the device, before i try to flash it.

                        What am i doing wrong?
                        Can anyone help me, plz.

Thank you for the help in advance.

first, go to control panel, hardware and sound, devices and printer.
you get a ''Unknown device'' double click on it and select driver, driver update if i'm remind.
here you install manually your driver and all goes right!
                          Good luck.

Thanx a lot. First time i asked for helped, and in 20 minutes, i got the correct answer.

One final question, if u can help me out?
                            The MK809III AP6210 Version 1.9a *UPDATE* has "Kernel.img, Kernel1.img, Kernel2.img and Kernel3.img"...
but i really don´t know which one to use to flash the mk809III, or even if i should install them in any specific order.
My goals are to use Behind XMBC for movie, series or live tv streaming (with the version i have i have a little loss of frames in movies, and also in live tv) and for normal use of android apps (the usual) nothing special (not a game guy... at least not anymore :-))

                            Thanx again.

I don't know for this lot of Kernel, but i doubt that you need to install all, maybe it's various option like nand size or 720p/1080p/720p oc/ 1080p oc.
often it as a attached doc to read to explain this.
