Pipo M9Pro serious connection issues over wifi

    Pipo M9Pro serious connection issues over wifi

    I am having serious connection issues over wifi. I haven't tried Ethernet yet.
    Wifi stays connected and has a strong signal but then all data transfer will stop! It may come back a few minutes later or require you to turn on and off wifi.

    It is for sure some kind of TCPIP stack issue and not a wifi signal issue! The data lockup are so bad it almost makes this tablet unusable!

    This reminds me of early issues with my 3066 Yuandao which later got fixed.

    I have made some progress making it better but it is still there. I am going to see if I can fix this myself but I cannot believe Pipo would put out a product that can hardly be used with wifi. Trust me, it is not my routers either! It is also not some of the stuff I read about solder connections. Again wifi signal stays good but data connection just breaks.

    For those having this you can improve it a little
    1) Set a static IP address
    2) Go into settings and turn off all the phone data stuff
    3) Go into wifi advanced setting and turn off wifi optimization
    4) I also eliminated some system apps
    bootreciever.apk
    wifidisplay.apk
    ProductCertificateService.apk
    Phototable.apk

    Needless to say, I am going to replace some of the tcpip handling files from ROMs I know do not have this issue. I am hoping it is not in the kernel.

    So you know the wifi chip is using 2 files
    fw_RK901a2.bin and loads a config file
    nvram_AP6476.txt
    So the wifi chip is a AP6476. Now to find alternative drivers for this chip.

    Honestly I expected more from Pipo after all the praise about their tablets. This wifi data issue is a show stopper in my opinion!

    Actually, these wifi issues have just cropped up recently. Believe me...there other problems...like frequent freezes.

    I'm hopeful we can iron all of this out. I'm at work today...and traveling tomorrow...but let me know if I can help. I'm anxious to find a fix, and implement it in my other ROMs.

    BTW, you can flash the M7 Pro ROM to this tablet with the M9 Pro kernel and everything works. I don't experience as much difficulty on my M7 Pro.

      I will see if the M7 ROM has the same issues using the 9 kernel.

      So your saying other Pipo tablets have this issue? I have read that recent ROMs fixed it?
      I wonder if they all use the same wifi chip?

      FYI after removing some sneaky hidden APPs, my screen freezes are gone!

        Of my three newer tablets my M7 is the most stable...no freezes ever.

        I'm having the most trouble with my M6 Pro...but I can't interchange ROMs with it because of the display/touch screen differences. It does the same wifi crap and freezes all the time.

        Which apps did you get rid of?

          SHITTY Power Supply

          OK so one problem I did just find and can recreate every time!

          If I have the charger hooked up it sometimes wont connect to my router PERIOD! It finds it, says connecting, then stops. I was like OK what the hell just happened?
          Oh wait, I plugged in the charger..... The minute I unplugged the charger, it connected.
          My tablet is like 2 feet from my router so signal strength is not the issue.
          It noise from the cheap China power supply!

          Time to break out a better 5V supply and see if I have the same problem.

            Wifi Fixed!

            Unbelievable!

            I had to take my M9 Pro apart to fix it. Shoddy soldering on the wifi antenna!

            I found this post after trying everything else to fix my wifi issues.

            Sure enough, all I did was remove the shield solder point at the board and now it is working fine.
            This was a similar problem we had on the MK808 and I had made a video about it back then.

            In the end it is a shorted antenna
            No ROM will fix it!

              hi ! i had the same issue with my m9 max i changed my wifi signal from 802.11n

              to 802.11b/g and now no more issues
