    IPPLI Marsi2c

    Dear All
I bought this stick on geekbuying:

I have sound issue while reading video (whatever the birate and kind) from wifi or USB key or internal Flash:
    - sometime the sound stop for a few 500ms
    - after a while i have a huge pb od synchro between sound and image.

My stick is on a Full HD sharp TV.
I am not using the power adaptator but just taking the power from the usb port of my TV.

    Could you, please, tell me:
1/ How to change its rom?
2/ Where to find another ROM? Is it rooted?
3/ How to enter in recovery mode (only the litthe hole? at power On?0)
    4/ Should i you use rockhip tool? v1.6 or v1.7 (i have a cube tablet )?
5/ Is there a quick tutorial?

    Maby questions: Sorry

    Regards

    Perhaps..
Could try.. using the power adaptor..to see if that the problem..?
    Or
Try using another audio player.. to rule out your current audio player
What audio players did you use?

    anyway..
On most device that geekbuying sales.. there is a 'howto' to flash.. and firmware
    See:

    Goodluck..

      Hello
I tried many different players: Mx player, BSplayer, Archos....
Always the same thing= same sound issues.

Now i use always the power adaptator = same sound issues (synchro between sound and image after a while)

I performed a factory reset = same sound issues.
I finally succedeeded in reflashing the FW with Rockship v1.7 (i needed to modify the config.ini file) and the same i already have = same sound issues.
It seems that someone installed Finless FW on this stick.
      Maybe i will try.
This FW is not attached to only 1 stick?
      Regards

I have a IPPLI Mars I2C as well. Haven't test the video performance yet. It would help if you tell me what kind of video format you are trying to play.

As far as I know there is no new ROM for it yet. the only ROM is the default ROM you can download from geekbuying.com.

Also the device is not rooted but it is easy enough done, I am sure you can find the link to the toolkit to do that in this forum. BTW the hole on the HDMI side is the mic, don't poke pin into it, lol

I think the device I got clocked 1.4ghz max, can you check your stick and see if it is the same?

I just tested a MKV and a MP4 on this device and had no problem with sound at all.

            Dear Jackyman
Even with low bitrate video i have a desynchro between sound and image after a while.
Even with the Film stored on the internal Flash or USB key or LAN (wifi)
I have tested other rooted ROM (not dedicated to IPPLI Mars i2c) and the problem is still there.
            I have a Sharp Full HD TV 1920 x 180 @50Hz (or 60Hz)
I use Mwplayer with H/W decoder
            Regards

                https://play.google.com/store/apps/d....v7_neon&hl=en
                No i didn't install it...
I Never install it also on my cube tablet (=same RK3188 processor)...
Without this codec you had issue?
                I will try
                Regards

                  Dear Jackyman
                  Thank you for your advise...
With Mxplayer armv7 neon + new rom i have no longer sound issue.
That is strange to install this codec because RK318 is an ARM V9 not V7 nd mxplayer never asked me for this arm v7 codec....
If you are interrested in a rooted rom you can try cx919_422_finless_16b.zip rom (in 720p or 1080p) both are working.
they also corrected my bluetoot bad connection for may audio headset.

Do you use the usb of your TV to power the stick or the power adaptator?
I already done it (only usb of the TV), it works but i am not sure that it is stable.

                  Regards

I am glad that worked for you. as a matter of fact RK3188 is armv7 -Cortex A9. I think that is the confusion. NEON is the multimedia extension I think it will benefit your other armv7 devices too.

Thank you for the info about the new ROM, I will give it a try

I prefer to give the stick as much power as it needed, I don't want to over load the TV's USB socket power (The TV is a lot more expensive), also if lacking of power the device may reset itself or something like that.

Just got my IPPLI Mars i2c from Geekbuying on 12/9

I was very excited to get this unit. It arrived fairly quick from Geekbuying and I highly recommend them.
Overall, so far this unit is very nice! The software is fairly well rounded for stock Android 4.2.2. It looks like it is using 1080p by default, I have it plugged into my 52" Sony XBR. It found my Asus Router/AP/Bridge (nearby > 2m) and was connected to the Wifi network without any headache. With my Rikomagic USA IIIs, the Wifi doesn't connect when it's too close to the AP. I tested the camera by downloading and installing Skype, it's working but quality is not that good, but it's nice to have a cam and mic built in. The device came with Cloud.tv player software which appears to have premium content (trial?) and was able to stream some HD shows and playback was smooth (not jittery). I was installing justXBMC4 last night, but there was some xbmc.org issues lastnight so the plugins didn't get updated so I couldn't test the playback in XBMC.

I will continue testing and will also root the ROM and will update this with more info.

Here are some images of the stick.

First the cover opened, notice no heatsink but a heat spreader sheet.

The board out, with heat spreader remove (it is a sticky)

A closer look that the CPU you can see the microphone on the top

The backend of the CPU side you can see the 2MP camera.

Now the NAND and WIFI side

The popular AP6210 WIFI and same NAND chip as MK802IV

This particular image, I put an arrow indicating where pin 8 & 9 are, when the device fail to respond to flashing you need to sort this 2 pins to get it into MASK mode.

                          Thanks for the photos...
The only bad thing on this key is that there is no Power On/Off button.
I am oblige to remove the micro_usb cable each time in order to poweron it: and the connector is fragile.
Do you know any micro_usb cable with poweron button on it?
                          Regards

I have never seen a inline USB power switch even on the larger connector, some USB hub has on/off switch but they may not delivery enough power to the device. The alternative is to put the 5V power supply on a socket that has a switch on it.
