Bricked 809 III

Hi,

i think i bricked my 809 III while upgrading rom 1.5 with old wifi. My TV shows no HDMI signal even though red light is visible. I have numerous problems with it since the very begining but the main problem is pc conectivity which was only working through hdmi option "connect to pc". Right now I don't know how to get into flash mode and I think I tried every possible solution written on forum to connect it but no luck. Here is what i tried so far:

Flash mode:
1. Reset button + usb to pc simultaneously - nothing happened
2. Reset button + usb to pc + DC power - nothing
3. Shorting Pin 6/7, 7/8, 8/9 (counted from the big dot on the chip)- none of them worked

I have to say that I still don't know which wifi version I have since there is not number written on it and therefore don't know which ROM is suitable for me.

Please let me know what to do next.. Tnx

Wireless chip is obviously RTL8188EUS (it is one on the 2nd picture which is kind of additional board)
Anyway, I have to say your device looks awful - looks like it was soldered by hand or burned. That is what probably causes the problems and it would be hard to repair.

Burned capacitor?

Take a look on the capacitor on the bottom left of the 2nd picture. It looks like burned. Probably that is the proplem.

buddy where you see the picture on the second capacitor have any idea what you're saying
at the bottom is a resistor, and so are labeled resistors

My dear, probably is better to check the picture.

This is what I'm saying. In the bottom left corner there is a SMD resistor and component that should be an ELECTROLYTIC CAPACITOR (check the red circle) that looks burnt.

surely it is quartz(quartz resonator), I see that there's no electronics what they have no idea about the electronic.
and what you see is the glue

Sorry guys for posting bad quality pictures. There is indeed sloppy soldering but I can assure you that nothing is burnt inside.

Red light is still ON when connected to power, so hopefully its not dead yet.. Does anybody know what else could I try to get into flash mode? Tnx

Try to get a hook into hdmi and then jumper pins 7 and 8, then swap in the OTG

It seems that combination hdmi + shorting pin 7/8 worked, USB now recognized. Thank you! could you please let me know which ROM can I install now, which one do you think should work? Tnx

Chip should be Realtek 8188. It is visible on one of the picture above.
