T-R42 broken device... and Alibaba.com

So I was watching a movie from Netflix on my T-R42 with stock ROM (version from November) and suddenly my TV went black for a split second. Then again, then again and then it was over. No more video output. So I restarted my device but unfortunatelly it wouldn't start anymore. Also no reaction on the reset button, no cwm, no reflash. The blue on/off button goes on and then off again after five seconds.

So I reported my problem at Alibaba.com where I bought it. So guess what they answered???
"Leave it for a few days and your device will be Ok"!
I fell off my chair as you may understand. Ever heard of such thing?

obviously try reflashing the firmware first

if the recovery/reset button isnt working then could try shorting the 8 and 9 pin on the nand flash chip then reflash the firmware


sounds like a hardware failure to be honest

different model but pretty much the same process

install rkbatchtool and drivers (plenty of pages that explain this so am not going to)

open rkbatchtool, pick your firmware

open up your box so you can see the main board, connect the box to your pc with otg usb cable

the chip in your model will look very similar to the pics in the link above.

count down from the top left of the chip til you get to the 8th and 9th pin. push a small drawing pin against the 8th and 9th pin on the nand chip and then plug the power cable into your box.

rkbatchtool should pop with a black connected icon. this indicates that your device is in mask mode

honestly cant remember whether its click upgrade or restore on rkbatchtool but i think its restore

thats it. box should restart

Hi This is what I have to do to power device on and have it remain running. Take the cable that you use to flash the device. Plug it into any powered usb outlet and press the power button. My device will then run. If I power off the tr42 I must repeat the procedure. If I use the remote and put it to sleep it will then power on again with the remote.
