Flash Finless 1.4a (mk908ii from virtualbox win7) and connect to monitor and no signal or doesn't boot

    This is on a mk908ii.

So my particular setup is making it a pain to flash/setup this device. I have windows 8.1 on all my computers, so I can't flash this easily. I have to use a bootable usb drive, boot into lubuntu, run virtualbox to the saved image over my network and run windows 7 in order to try and flash finless. It seems like it works (there is a warning that 'erasing might stop at (6), mine does that) but it seems to work. However, when I plug it in and hook it up to my monitor (hdmi) I get no singnal (or it's not booting). I see two possible problems with my procedure:

    1) I have to use this convoluted method to flash finless
    2) I'm using a monitor rather than a TV

Again, I only have windows 8.1 on all my computers (except ubuntu on a server), and I don't have a TV in the house (just two monitors which support HDMI input). HOWEVER, with my flashing method I can restore the device back to stock using the manufactuer provided firmware (off geekbuying if I remember right).

Any idea what might be causing this? Any tips?

What is the native resolution of your monitors?
I would say you have flashed OK if you got no flash errors. The MK908ii has a problem with erasing and I have yet to get it to count up. It's OK though in "general".
So if you get no HDMI your monitors may not support the 1920x1080 output or are not providing EDID info to the stick.

      Hey Bob.

Thanks for your reply, and thanks for your rom. I tried two monitors with HDMI inputs. Both have a resolution of 1920x1080 (HP w233h wide and ASUS VS247). (I do have to use an 'overscan' from my AMD drivers to get it fullscreen; don't think that matters though.) One of the monitors is pretty new (less than 6 months). I don't suppose there's a way to remote connect to the device, so I can see if it actually booted? (probably not.) I guess I try to flash again. I take it 1.4a is the best version for the mk908ii?

I have a new ROM coming which does have some updates to HDMI code. But I cannot say if it will solve it for you. The RockChip HDMI chip is a little problematic with some TVs. As for monitors, I just can't help there. Are you using the 720P kernel from my ROM?

Also so you know, because the MK908ii uses a mini HDMI to full sized HDMI cable, those cables can be a problem! I have 4 bad ones here that will NOT WORK! So make sure it's not your cable please... China cables are not the best! Out of 7 mini cables I have gotten with other sticks, only 3 work.

Yes I am using 720p version of your rom. (Though I *think* I tried 1080p at first.) I'm using the supplied HDMI adapter/cable that came with the device and plugging it in to the monitor directly. I should note that the stock rom does work.

Again, do not trust the supplied cable!

Sorry to say that but as I said, almost 1/2 of those I got from China did not work.
