    RileyROM Downtime...Maybe

It's been a while since I've mentioned it, but my REAL job is a Fire Captain for the Fire Department in my city and I'm on duty today. That is usually OK, because I have time at the firehouse to work on ROM's after all the usual work/training/meetings and stuff are over with.

Today we have a major winter storm passing through our area and I anticipate a very busy day running on emergency calls...so please realize that my REAL LIFE may intrude on my ability to work on ROM's...especially if the power goes out. The last big storm we had in 2009 caused power outages lasting 5-7 days. So if you don't hear from me for a while...that's the reason.

We have the worst case scenario passing through. Freezing Rain with ice accumulation on streets and trees and power lines...with sleet and snow to come later...and it's REALLY COLD!!!!! It's not something that people in Arkansas are used to, so the human factor is job security for me.

    I'll keep you posted.

Have the utmost respect for fire crews, the work they do and the people they help.

Stay safe and see you on the other side of these storms!

            So far...one major fire in a strip mall...nobody hurt, though...just frozen...hahaha!

We have ice and sleet right now, with a bunch of snow on the way. I've still had time to get some ROM work done today, because the bosses are away....

            Oh, wait a minute...I'm the boss...hahaha!!!!

The shift is almost over with about 8" of snow on top of ice. Not as bad as we thought.

Not much to do today...but stay in and work on ROMs...hahaha!!!!!

Firemen/women, teachers and doctors/nurses are the true heros of the world. Be safe and thank you for your work.

And maybe you can get the best of the situation by using this "natural cooling system" that you have out there to test some heavy overclocked kernes
