MK808 slows down with WiFi turned on

Just recently my MK808's slowed right down, and it's even having trouble playing HD video smoothly. It's also really slow transferring movies over FTP, where it used to be much faster (~1,400KB/s vs. 300KB/s now)

To try remedy the problem I re-flashed the ROM, but no luck.. strangely, when I turn off the WiFi, the unit speeds up dramatically and works as it should. What's going on here?

I tried the new Finless 2.1 but my TV doesn't support it, so I'm back at 1.7c.

Install the Alex 2dark4u kernel with that rom for what I think is the best result

Thanks for the suggestion. But does anyone have any idea what the problem could be?
