[HELP] Philips HMP8100 player based on Amlogic 8726MX, android 4.1.1, modified 3e uImage_recovery needed.

Hi, i'm just a newbie in android, here is my question:

I got a HMP8100 player from china, it works pretty good but the virtual button bar never auto-hides when i play any videos on the 3rd party player apps. i want it to play in real full-screen without the virtual button bar.

so i decided to root this device and modify the build.prop to get rid of the bar.

i downloaded the rom file in the link below and try to flash it with modified update.zip(build.prop) and re-signed it with google test key, but it seems not work. i think it uses a private key to do the verification.

i'm just wondering how to change the verification from it's private key to google test key or maybe the verification can be removed. but i can't find a way.

    # just without update.zip.

I was not aware that Philips was manufacturing Android products?

      Hi fleet_tw,

I was not aware that Philips was manufacturing such Android products...

How does it works and where can I place my order to buy one?

      Thanks in advance.

        Thank you.

I've tried other Amlogic platforms' modded 3e uImage_recovery from you but it's still no go. when i use it for SDCard flashing, it shows me blank screen.

The recovery has to be packaged with proper kernel and drivers for each device. They aren't often compatible from one device to another. I should be able to unpack your stock recovery and modify it to use Google test keys for signature verification.

In case nobody else noticed this, the manual for this device says you can email them to get the firmware source code. This should at least include the linux kernel sources because that is a GPLv2 (linux's license) requirement (and probably the reason this notice is in the manual).

              Hi:

I have the same doubt before.

I got mine when i was travelling in Peking(Beijing), china. i found it in the local Philips store then i back to hotel to search it in the Philips official website to avoid if it's a chinese knockoff.

according the infomation from Philips, this model is only selling in p.r.china, i think it should be an ODM product, but still, i can't 100% guarantee. you know the 3C products in china are really a chaos.

i'm kinda regret i bought it. it gets the average performance in other devices based on Amlogic 8726MX, but it get 2 times even more at the price. the uWand remote was surprised me at the beginning, but after that, in fact it is inconvenient when you are not facing the IR window directly, and the operating experience is a little laggy.

i would say it isn't so worth buying.

if you still want to get one, maybe you can try amazon or ****.

                thank you.

if i can root this device with your great help, i can try to add "qemu.hw.mainkeys=1" in the build.prop to hide the virtual button bar.

I've tried to email them 1 month ago, twice. they never reply me with a single word.
