    Just a side-question:

does anyone know a source for buying plastic battery covers for the U8? I recently took off the aluminium cover and was amazed how much better the wifi-reception is and how easy it would be to change it.

Else, is there anyone who tried drilling holes into the cover on top of the wifi-receiver? If so, how did it work out?

I really like the metal feel and look of the cover but I also expected a reception drop when I was going for it. I have seen this discussion elsewhere but not any plastic replacement I am afraid. Still could I bother you for some instructions how the cover is removed?
I have a feeling that my reception is better when I hold it upsidedown (with the camera and keys side down). Is it my idea or is the antenna mounted on the bottom?

First, take out any things plugged into your U8 (microSD, usb, hdmi, headphones)! Then you can take it off by pushing with the edge of an old credit card against the small front-facing part of the aluminium cover right at the middle of one of the long sides. as soon as you pushed the aluminium a millimeter or so way from the plastic, you can stick the credit card's edge between plastic and alu. Now slide around the whole tablet and you'll here it click several times. the cover can then be removed easily. Take care not to lose the power/ESC buttons - they fall out as soon as you open the tablet (don't worry though, you can easily put them in there again).
of course, do this at your own risk. I'm not responsible if someone looses warranty or damages his or her tablet...

So, if I understand correctly, I can boot to recovery using the terminal command, I may get it to work using a mouse (which I intend to test myself and let people know), but due to this new partition layout you feel that nandroid would not work. Still update.zip installation should work ok. Is that correct?

Also you mentioned in your first post that the included Reboot app will not work with 'boot to recovery'. Has that changed? I have used it for normal reboot and it works great.
              I can confirm that:

Mouse will not work in recovery (although my OTG cable and mouse work perfectly well).
Once in recovery menu, using 'power' to "click" on reboot option will just re-send you to recovery mode (thus in an endless reboot loop).

I re-flashed ROM to get out of the loop. So do not boot into recovery (either by the provided app or by any other way)

I never though I'd miss the volume keys so much...

Any chance we get a working (touch ?) recovery?

                  v1.9 is ready for download!!!!!

I've just posted v1.9, based on a newer firmware release from Pipo.

                    Hi Randy,
Could you please clarify where the multi-user feature can be found?

I don't see a Users category in the Settings. I have tried your firmware v1.9, v1.8.2 and v1.8.
                    Thanks in advance.
                    Regards!

Multi user is another feature that does not work in this particular kitkat firmware.

I just confused by the description says "multiuser activated". What does it mean?

BTW, can you suggest any firmware which supports the multi-user feature for Pipo U8?

It means that I made the usual tweak that worked in Jellybean to activate multiuser. It was only AFTER I released and tested the ROM did I discover it didn't work. I just failed to remove that item from the list in post #1.
