    Youtube quality on Pipo M9Pro

    Hey guys,

    I own a Pipo M9 Pro, resolution 1920x1200.
From day 1, I noticed that Youtube video quality is less than ok, all the videos look bad (pixelated) not matter if full screen or small window.

I made a screenshot from the tablet and one from the PC, at the same frame and the difference is visible:
Pipo screenshot: http://imageshack.com/a/img841/9550/78ju.jpg (see at full img size to see details)
    PC screenshot: http://imageshack.com/a/img560/1143/poqm.jpg

Are you guys experiencing the same issue on M9Pro, and is there any fix for this?

    Thanks.

I didn't notice that, maybe you should wipe it to make sure if it is a application conflict.

Thank you for your reply. Is it looking good on your tablet (you also have M9Pro?) from beginning?

When I received it, I had September or October firmware. It was looking pixelated with that firmware.
Then I updated to 21 Nov firmware, same quality. Now, I flashed with both Finless 1.4 & 1.5 ROM and it still looks like this. Can't really tell where the problem lies, maybe a hardware acceleration or codecs?

Problem is I can't find any related issue on google, so I don't know where to begin.

      Cheers.

I had the same problem with youtube, but it was just because the internet connection was 2mbit/s on this tablet even though I'm having DSL 15.000 .
Try a app like speedtest to determine whether it's just a speed problem.

For me the following solved the problem completely:

-Use a simple SSID with no more than 8 letters
        -Password also only 8 letters
-Wifi channel must be between 3 and 8

With this settings the speed went up from 2mbit/s to 12mbit/s, and youtube works juist perfect in hd mode

          Hey mate,

Thanks for your advice. My connection speed (based on Network Signal Info https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...android.telnet) is ranging from 36Mb to 54Mb (max router speed).

Also, speedtest is showing me 12-14Mb download / 16-18 Mb upload.

On youtube, the HD mode is selected and looks ok on SG S2 & SG S4 via WIFI (or notebook Win7).

I don't think it's a connection problem . Could you possibly make a screenshot of a youtube HD video while in fullscreen to see how it looks on your end?

          Thanks a bunch

Your connection is even better than mine, so this really shouldn't be causing the problem
I think the graphic chip in this tablet isn't really good, even games like subway surfers don't work smoothly for me..

Here's the screenshot, but it looks a bit better in reality:

As you've already tried different roms I also dont know what else to do, sry..

Maybe many problems will be solved when PiPo releases KitKat for this tablet, at least I hope so :-)

I actually got it fixed. It turned out to be from Youtube poor scaling technique.
I had to uninstall Youtube app and install a moded one (an older version I believe 4.4.11 - I have v5 MOD)

Here is a link for users that have the same issue (Youtube 4.4.11 v6 (MOD) - haven't tried this one yet):
YouTube v4.4.11 (v6) Mod Requirements: Android 2.2 or newer (Froyo/Gingerbread/Honeycomb/Ice Cream Sandwich/Jelly Bean) Overview: The latest version of the official YouTube app. [break] The latest version of the official YouTube app. Keep up...

As you can see in the screenshots, the quality is much better now because of settings.

              Hope this helps guys

P.S: Thanks for the screenshot. Looks a bit pixelated to you as well?
Try installing the app and see if there's any quality changes.

Great to hear you solved the problem :-) I installed the app you recomended and think that theres at least a small difference, and the integrated downloader is really cool. Thanks for that.Next thing on my to do list is the wifi antenna ;D

My pleasure, great to hear you see improvements as well From what I read, you have to disable auto-update for Youtube in Apps area so it doesn't update and have to re-do the whole process.

As far as the wifi, check this link http://www.freaktab.com/showthread.p...n-instructions where I described how I fixed the wifi issue. That method worked for me, I hope it will work for you as well. All I can say is that I never experience disconnects anymore and my signal is still strong in all the rooms

                  Cheers
