CS898 Bootloop
Originally posted by momostocker View PostRearanger, I notices that you are working with a Cs898. what method are you using to get out of boot loops when testing flashes. If you are bridging pins, which pins are the correct pins for the CS898. Thanks for sharing the ROM that works.
Thanks
I switched to my older pc running Vista.I found that I wasn't holding the Reset pin firm enough while i plugged in the device. After doing that I was able to install the drivers. Then the Cs898 was detected using the RKbatchtool 1.7
Now to flash the firmware that you recommended.

CS898 Firmware
I tried the firmware that you suggested for the CS898. I ended up switching to another firmware because I couldn't get Wi-fi or bluetooth to work.
This one works for my CS898:

If i try the above method, could i save my device?
Thanks in advance, for any help.Last edited by momostocker; 20 January 2014, 21:51.

Just make sure you get a good firmware download checked by md5 checksum. If flashing doesn't help, you may have a hardware issue that couldn't be fixed by flashing (hardware issue probably unlikely if you see penguins.

How i fixed mine.
Polusantus,
I have the CS898. Try this...
1. Download ncr19a_mk809.zip from
http://www.freaktab.com/showthread.p...-1-9a-*UPDATE*
2. unzip it to a directory on your pc
3. connect the CS898 HDMI cable to your TV
4. connect the CS898 USB cable from the side microusb (not the one that says DC)
5. navigate to the directory that you unzipped ncr19a_mk809.zip and open directory RKDevelopTool_v1.37 and then run RKAndroidTool.exe (All the required files will be preloaded and the program will be ready to flash the rom.)
6. With RKDevelopTool_v1.37 open on your pc, hold down the reset button with a paperclip and plug in the USB cable into the PC at the same time. (this can be challenging)
7. After a few seconds stop holding down the reset button and the TV should remain blank. Device should be in flash mode)
8. At this point your PC may need to find drivers. Make sure to click on install driver from a specific location. Then have the computer look for the drivers in the directory you unzipped the file in the Driver folder and then folder x64 if you have a 64-bit OS PC or X86 if you have a 32-bit OS on your PC.
If you don't know which you have, go to My Computer and at the top there is a button called system properties on the top left. Then look at the stuff listed there about your compouter. It should be after System Type.
9. Flash mode confirmed by the RKDevelopTool now reading Found RKAndorid rock usb
10. Click Run and wait about 5 minutes. This is installing the new firmware. This firmware is okay. Everything works but make sure you use the regular green android launcher and don't use kitkat launcher.
Most of this stuff has been said before here: http://www.freaktab.com/showthread.p...H-A-CUSTOM-ROM
Using the NOFrills CPU App underclock the processor to 1.4ghz from 1.6ghz and the device will purr. (with the default setup I usually get periodic freezes and restarts. Now it only restarts if i run a lot of HD video.)
Also if you are a bit daring. To improve the Wifi Signal of the CS898. Unhook all the wires to the CS898 and slowly crack open case along seam with a screwdriver you can look inside. There are wires attached to a aluminum foil square antenna taped inside. I gently peeled the antenna off the inside case and gently pull the wires out the small hole by the usb plug port and stuck the antenna on the outside of the case. Before doing this, my CS898 download speed was 0.15kbps. Now, I can download at 1.1MB/s.
You can damage your device messing with the stuff inside. I just added that to share. I have no skills. I was just very careful.
Post if this helped you. Thanks

ooops!
I decided to try out some of the kitkat firmware, and then I tried going back to the original firmware that I posted on this thread. I found out wasn't the the one that I was using.
Sorry to mislead everyone with the wrong firmware for so long. Here is the one that I intended to share:
firmware file: MK802IV_ow_19.zip
From what I've found roms that are compatible with the CS898 have the "old wifi" and are for MK802IV
I hope this helps!
