    Minix x7 - Onkyo TX-NR1009 - Philips LCD - Handshake issue

First of all I would like to say hello. Just registered and I'm delighted to see there's an active community.

I have an issue which apparently is related to the HDMI Handshake not being processed correctly by my Onkyo AVR in combination with my Philips 47" LCD tv.

Because these damn Philips TV's are known for their crappy HDMI compatibility I bought an Onkyo. Every device (Dune, Wii, Xbox, Apple TV, Humax) connected to the Onkyo is displayed/working except the Minix.

My x7's are running custom firmware (Quickshot Rom + DDR OC). I changed the HDMI modes but without any positive results. Unfortunately I cannot connect the x7 directly to the Philips TV.

Any suggestion would be extremely welcome as you could imagin.

I also got a second x7 which is connected to a Samsung LCD tv without any issues. I also tried connecting this device to the Onkyo with same results.

    Thanks in advance

Thanks for answering and yes I did. I even put the Onkyo on 1080p 24Hz mode etc. just to be sure.

Tonight I ordered a HDMI splitter for testing purpose which will be delivered the day before Christmas and I also will try different roms just to rule out ROM related issues in the next days.

      Let the testing begin

Tomorrow I will try the "virgin still in a box with stock rom" X7 mini, just to see what happens.

I will report back with my findings.

Reporting back as promised, the X7 mini connects just fine with the standard resolution of 720p.

As far as my knowledge goes right now,1080p modes (50Hz/60Hz and 24Hz) aren't compatible with the
Onkyo - Philips combination. At this moment I'm really disappointed and I'm hoping on some kind of solution.

Unfortunately I know that our cable company Ziggo and Cisco are still trying to get their PVR working on Philips TV's (for 3 years know) so I will revert back to 720p just to make use of the device.

plug the minix directly into the TV via hdmi, and connect it to the onkyo via optical for audio

Connecting the device directly to the Philips won't work either but.....

I ordered a HDMI switch which I put in between the Minix and Onkyo.
Everything is working now. Sad because it's rediculous to spent $34 to get a rather new HDMI device working, Happy to have 1080p on all resolutions now still to get DD/DTS I used an optical cable.

To be more specific about the technical specs:

Philips 47PFL9632D/10 (Version: 000.064.014.022, Zip file, 24.66 MB, Date published: 2009-03-05)
            Onkyo TX-NR1009 (Firmware: Version 1131-1399-0211-4108)
Minix X7 (HFW 3.1 Firmware by Lewy20041 - no OC)
            HDMI Spliiter (http://www.allekabels.nl/hdmi-splitt...er-met-3d.html)

Tnx all for replying. It's unfortunate that this issue is resolved by a workaround. I will never buy a Philips and most certainly will not advice you to buy one!

Regards and best wishes for 2014
