I am new to this forum but it seems to be a great community!
Some general questions on this ROM:
(1) Do I understand correctly that the LibMedia.so hack is specifically for XBMC player? With the official ROM I had some problems with XBMC, so I am using MX Player for watching MKV's via SMB on my NAS.
In general audio works fine, if I select hdmi passthrough or the default option in the sound device manager, but on my receiver the signal only arrives as PCM and not as true DTS. That's why I was thinking about using this ROM.
Will this be solved with this ROM?
(2) Will the hack also work for HDMI Passthrough? I don't want to have a separate optical cable from the CR11S to my AV receiver...
Thanks!

Hey hey,
i am new to this forum too, but i have some knowledge about Android & Co.
Here is a Fix 1 for you.
1)Just Deinstall your XBMC
2)Go as my Fix folder guides you, from main "/" to system then to lib and overwrite your stock libmedia with that one from my Fix.
For that you can use ES Explorer app from playstore, it is free.
You NEED Root rights on your device, elseway you wont be able to change libmedia file, as you may know from windows if you are logged as guest you have "readOnly" Rights, same as here.
3) When all that done, start JustXBMCv4, the only important settings for you there are HDMI Output and to 5.1 or what your config is...
And go to Settings in Android--->Sound Device--->and point "RK29_RK1000 PASSTHROUGH", i have HDMI too and only this option enables Passthrough.
Fix 2
Download rom in this Topic and flash it.
Remove the preinstalled XBMC and install JUSTXBMCv4
Enable same XBMC and Audiodevice settings as i told before and you will get Passthrough signal.
But, and i am very sorry Tech1, this Rom is horrible to me as the StockRom was, its just prerooted and already has the moded libmedia.
None issue is fixed...No Sync...device recognise no Ethernet and and and...
I though Rom would have clean and adapted kernel with cutom keys and fingerprint with only native drivers and configs
But like a stock Rom it looks like dumping ground, it has Driver and config files barely for all devices out there and uses Testkeys as a fingerprint, all configs are enabled and only because of failing find hardware they refuse, but in my opninion it causes performance leaks deluxe...
I did Log on, and must smiling as i saw that the Ethernet Port was marked as unknown device that is docking on USB Switch Emulator, i was so confused, there is even no real ethernet chip inside...just soft emulated passthrough on USB with many protocols.
Puhhh, i think i'll try somehow to create kinda "Frankenstein" from peaces of Bob's Kernels and other Roms.
Thank you Tech1, i learned a TONN of usefull stuff today from your ROM.
Regards

Thanks guys for your response!
@Tech1: I have the CR11S 5MP. Maybe you could comment on D3ZZ's remarks abou the ROM - but as the title says, it's the stock rom pre-rooted + libmedia.so
@D3ZZ: I need to get back to my initial quesiton: So even if I configure the Sound Device to point to RK29_RK1000 PASSTHROUGH and set 5.1 in JustXBMC it will send the DTS signal via HDMI to my AV-Receiver when playing files in MX Player? For MX Player replacing the libmedia should be enough, correct?

Well,
try to imagine libmedia.so is part of Android.
MX Player runs on Android but is not a part of its Framework.
MxPlayer has its own Core and FFMPEG Library, it runs absolutely separate, because it does not need libmedia.so library because its have it's own.
You may ask "why i get no sound then"
Well, because Team that coded MX player avoid DTS/DD Licence Issues with excluding their FFMPEG library the Passthrough code, their workaround to not getting banned from Playstore.
Here i uploaded for you custom moded MXPlayer FFMEG Codec which will enable Passthrough of DTS and DD
Just create a folder on your device SDCard unzip libfmpeg.so there, then start MXPlayer, go to options, go to decoder, scroll down till you see "Enable Custom Codec" click and point to your folder, Mx Player will restart.
Then go to Decoder Options again and get sure that all "Software Rednering/Decoding options" are unset, sametime check only two last HW Options on, the one is with Aspekt Ratio and other with HW select Soundstream...something like that...
After that you will alway geht Hardware Accelerated Video and Digital Passthrough from MX player.
The thing with XBMC and libmedia is just a conviniecefactor when you want watch anything with XBMCs Native DVDPlayer, without 3rd party Players...
So use MXPLayer and enjoy Highperformed Multimedia.
PS: Dont forget to let your Sounddevice as RK_29....blabla as mentioned before.
And run some DTS/DD MKVs and and check while playing if in upper right corner is HW? or HW+? and if HW+ click on it and chenge to HW otherwise Passthrough is unable.

However, I already had the custom codec for MX Player in place and as mentioned audio in general works. The problem is, that my AV receiver only gets a (stereo) PCM signal, instead of the DTS signal. I also tested the files from http://www.jensign.com/bdp95/7dot1voiced/ and the channel check from http://www.dolby.com/us/en/consumer/...-download.html to identify the channels, but only the front left / right and centre are working.
Is it possible that it's only possible via SPDIF + optical cable and not via HDMI passthrough?
Cheers

No my friend, as i got this same issue for weeks, and after tons of reading, experimenting and try n error, i brought both to work and i can DEFINETLY confirm that it work on HDMI
And through this all issues i've learned pretty much,
three weeks ago i even didn't exactly know what android is, i knew that it was some lightweight smartphone system and that it can run apps
Just take some time, read some about kernels, scripts that will help you to get a picture on how Android is built and how you can manupulate it your way.
But for now,
Forget XBMC---> uninstal it complete
Check which version of MXPLayer you have installed, it is very important.
You can see it, right upper corner by "About"
That moded Codec that i send you is the newest one! Version 1.7.22
For the Up2Date MXPlayer with the same Version ID!Further, you need special one for your Chipset, otherwise there can not be any Hardware based Acceleration and Signal Passthrough, because of mismatching with your Hardware, i hope you can follow me, therefor you dont need to know Android it is pure logic.
I piked up the Right Codec for your Hardware.
So, if you got the 1.7.22 MX Player and 1.7.22 Custom LibFmpeg ArmeabiV7 NEON Codec that i provided you, and you pointed it in options and now there stands Custom Codec...path..sdcard/blabla/libfmpeg.so
And you have all Options in "Decoder" as i mentioned...
And your SoundDeviceManager is of course set to RK_29_RK1000 PASSTHROUGH?
Then you did it
Now testing,
put a HDD or USB on your Device with um2ts file, its a native HD Format with DTSHDMA Sound.
Go direct to MX PLayer-->refrsh---> then click on um2ts file...then...
Here i uploaded for you my um2ts testing DTS file CLICK

I am using the stafstrom's libmedia.so version same as others but no luck for me on ac3. If you haven't done that already you need to replace your libmedia.so with the hacked on to get this done. Also make sure android settings show you the spdif passthrough in the sound device manager. Everytime the box reboots it falls back to HDMI PCM setting so you need to enable passthrough everytime you reboot. Good Luck.
now think logical, whatfor do you need this hacked^^ libmedia.so if as i explained the MX or any other extern Player has their own System Core and uses their own Medialibrary (Codec) with Passthrough.
Libmedia.so with Passthrough modification is only to use with XBMCs native...builtIN Player "DVDPlayer" and RKPlayer that Built in all RK Based Devices

The first time i have expirienced this issue was after connecting mele 10, because of its own USB Sounddevice...
The Box have in init.rc commands to check USBs on Bootup.
Bofore i used mele 10 i cant remember having that issue
My native Box is MK908V3 or 5 with Finless 1.7c
This CR11S is just for testing.

One small note, the codec 1.7.21 should be ok with MX Player 1.7.22 according to http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2156254
