LOVING my Jynxbox M6 / Gygica TV400 / Genitech TV500x - AML8726-MX

Folks.... I got this box back in late October but have not had time to mess with it too much.
It's the Jynxbox M6 A.K.A Mygica TV420 A.K.A Genitech TV520.

Anyway I have been messing with this for like 3 days straight and I gotta say... ROCKCHIP is missing some details that for some reason AMLogic seems to handle. That is HW acceleration and being able to throw just about any video format at this box (Except .MKV).

I am working on a ROM for this now and enjoying not having to deal with ROCKCHIP bull crap!

NO... it's not as fast as a RK3188 but for playing media in true color and 1080.... HOLY SHIT..... It works baby!

Stay tuned as I learn more about this device.

It's actually pretty impressive for a dual core!
The Android system does well... I think we could learn a few things from this ROM
AML always had a better HDMI output color than Rockchip! Watch a video and see.... The codecs seem to be better.

Bob - i agree 100%. Ditched my Minix X7 for a dual core (g18ref) AML8726-MX box 3 months ago & I have never looked back. XBMC is - put quite simply - brilliant. Game play & browsing is slower than my X7 - but I didnt buy it for that

I am having SUCH FUN making a new ROM for this box it's just too much fun!

I have learned a huge amount about this unique AMLogic device.

I have scavenged the preinstall (mtd backup block) NAND area to make it usable for you all! It is protected from factory reset and makes a very cool area to backup stuff too or use as you desire. It's like a protected disk area of NAND. It's 70 Megs of NAND space that they setup in the kernel for pre-installing APPs... what a waste of NAND space but so be it. LETS MAKE IT USABLE!!!! VERY COOL I got this to work

Also I have increased performance already on this ROM! It is shake'in and bake'in baby!

I have a hell of a lot more I want to do so trust if you have this box:
Mygica TV400, Genitech TV500 or the JynxBox M6, your going to love what I have done to this ROM

I do not think I will finish today but by this weekend I think I will have a kick ass ROM for folks that have this device.

G18ref board with 4 USB and spdif, hdmi, 8 gb? I have an mx2 clone, wonder if this would work on that 1 too?

further i agree on picture quality, mx amlogic Dual core seems better and more vivid in 720p 1080p than my minix 5 and 7 with the rk chipset. All on original roms for now..

Once I installed MX Player MKV's play fine. However in this ROM is DNLA and Airplay. Unfortunately these cannot handle MKV for some reason and wont allow you to switch the MX Player. XBMC will though as well as using ES File Explorer for server side (shares) MKVs.

Even though the Wifi antenna is inside this box and not external... IT WORKS GREAT! At least for me.

This is all I can find on amazon, will this work? Bob says MyGica TV420, TV400 and here it says MyGica ATV520, so I am not sure if this is the same as what Bob said is compatible...

It maybe compatible. Many are the same just different hardware setup (packaging).

You need to boot it up and open a terminal and type
cat /proc/mtd
and see how the partition structure is setup. If it matches then you might be good to go.

Hi there, I just bought a brand new jynxbox m6 and I would like to know how to make a full backup of the stock firmware and put it aside in case I fiddled withe box and bricked it so I can recover from the backup so if you can give me the step by step needed I would appreciate your time as I am a newbie when it comes to android product I used to use Apple TV so i want to compare. I here'd that the jynxbox is the same as the matricom G-Box midnight mx2 is that correct ?? Is there a difference between the two boxes ??

does the jynxbox m6 has OTG USB ?? Does it support airplay ??

1) It doesn't have an OTG port so you cant get ADB working. I made a double ended USB cable and tried every port. No ADB which SUCKS!

2) Yes it has airplay built in.

3) You can dump the firmware to SDcard using DD from an Android terminal. The box is pre-rooted. I successfully dumped all MTD partitions.
However as I posted in your other thread, the dump of /system wont work because of the UBIFS format of system and there is no way to flash it back as an image.

The only way to dump /system is to copy (using busybox) all the files and symlinks out to a folder on SDcard. Then you can make a edify script and a .zip to flash it back.

boot, logo, recovery, and uboot can all be dumped using DD and can be flashed back by a edify script using "write raw image".
