Anyone see a problem with the execution of Polaroid's Firmware "Upgrade?"

    Go to Best Buy for instance. They now require a photo id for refunds,which they place into a "secure" database which they "promise" not to share with anyone.

    Everyone understand what this means. You're only going to get 1-2 chances to return something. After that no matter what you claim, they are most likely going to refuse to give you either a refund or an exchange for *ANYTHING* you buy from them if it looks like it's some kind of pattern and that refusal is mostly likely going to follow you around no matter where you go to buy something like a bad credit history report.

      Well everyone I took back I had a reason, the first one I told the other store straight up there was nothing wrong with it, I just wanted 4.0 so I didn't have to wait for the maker to come up with the update whenever they felt like it, the second one turned out to be a later I model that didn't have a video out port and I wanted a out port so again I explained what was up and no problems, it didn't have a port like the box says it does but works fine, the third one once I got it out of the box it had the port but was dead as in battery flat. I charged it up and it seemed to work fine but 80 percent of the time it wouldn't turn off but just reboot when you hit the power button, plus it had a few other minor glitches that seemed to get fixed when I did a factory reset.
      This last one works fine so I'm keeping it and I won't go and try to get 10 bucks back after all the great customer service they gave me.
      As far as others doing it it will depend on the manager at each store whether they'll let somebody get 10 back if they have a later unit with ICS already installed seeing how it says 2.2-2.3 tablets in the add.

        MY local store is very accommodating about that. They tell me, "If I were you, I'd do the same thing!", and cough up the cash.

        Sunday, I think *I* will - and buy another one, too, while I'm there.

              Yeah I've had quite a few stores do that for me as well. I've gone in with the receipt and the item, explained I just bought it a few days ago and now it's on sale. They'll typically just do a return and then resell you the same item so you get the better deal. I've even had some customer service reps say they have to actually hand me the money back so they briefly place it in my hand then I have to hand it right back to them once they've rung it up

              We spend a lot of time being critical of stores and manufacturers here at times, but some stores and employees are still pretty darn decent. I just wish they were the rule and not the exception!

                My 13 year old went to Big Lots today with his receipt and my card. He asked if they had a 30 days price guarantee, they refunded the $10+ to my paypal card.

                I hope they still one on Friday so I can get my wife one for Mother's Day.

                  Maybe if you explain yourself, they'll hold one for you. Can't hurt to ask!

                  I went there yesterday for my $10. I plan to go back up there this morning and scoop myself up another tablet. BTW, they're holding it for me.

                  I also plan to get yet another one on Monday. Like you said, Mother's Day is around the corner.


                  To get us back on topic, I hope that ST has the means in place to properly support what they put out there when they release future products like this. I'm also thinking that what Shawn did for us here has had a FAR bigger role in shaping the 701x firmware they released than they're willing to admit to.

                  Seeing as how some of our concerns end up being addressed as if by magic, it's a safe bet to say that they're either psychics, or SOMEONE there keeps an eye on everything that we say and do here...

                    Yeah I'm pretty convinced they are lurking/observing threads here. As long as it leads to productive improvements....that's alright by me!

                      I, for one, am flattered that they consider these forums to be THE place to go for feedback from their user base concerning their products. Like you, we should all hope that they'll take full advantage of the opportunity to get what other companies can't pay people enough to provide to them, and do their part to make this the best possible experience for EVERYONE.

                      Hope I'm not going off-topic again! I, for one, am bad about doing that...
