    Why is the X7 struggling?

So why is it that the X7 is struggling, especially in xbmc?

I have a LG TV that has a much weaker dual core processor, yet it plays media that the x7 struggles with flawlessly.

Im using justxbmc 1.2.2 with a non under-clocked 1080p kernel.

Is this just because the device is still pretty new and will the performance improve over time? Because if you look at the raw specs of the device it should be able to play pretty much anything without a problem.

Is it because it is running on android and would finding a way to run linux on it be a better way to go?

What do you knowledge full people think will be the future/limit for the X7?

User problem. All the X7 i have tested have no issues playing any of the HD 1080p files from my 6TB library. Either you screw up the firmware flashing or you have a dodgy unit. If all else fails, just use stock ROM.

Hmm.. there are many posts.. with this Q

Yes, Hopefully [sdk2 and xbmc 13 final]
Because if you look at the raw specs of the device it should be able to play pretty much anything without a problem.
      I agree
If you look at XBMC v13 [the one with H/W Acc ] .. its still a alpha version.. full of bugs
-also the minix firmware.. its getting better..but it still feels, If we are beta testing there FWs
      Give it Time..

Have you tried making a Playercorefactory file.. in xbmc?
-Then you can use MX-player.. for your HD content [enabling menu option ; Play With ]

      My q
Why post this here a freaktab? Minix also has a forum..

First of all, you cannot compare a dedicated Media player's performance with a general purpose Android Device just because the dedicated players can do only one thing: play media; while Android boxes can do much more.

Have said that, I can daresay that the X7 (or Mini which has the same CPU/RAM spec) plays 1080p vidoes flawlessly.

Take for example, MX Player or any other video player with H/W acceleration. They all play 1080p without any issue.

Now, XBMC is relatively new to Android and above that, they recently acquired the source code of RK3** chips to 'tap' into H/W acceleration part of them.
The new XBMC Minix does this very well.

My X7 Mini has the new Quickshot ROM and the Minix-XBMC plays the FullHD videos thrown at it flawlessly.
Most importantly, there is no need to think of an external player anymore. XBMC-Minix does it very well.

Ultimately what we have here is a bunch of raw power with very little software written to make use of it. The NEO X7 being quadcore doesn't mean much when nothing is actually making use of all of that parallel processing power.

I was very unimpressed with MINIX and the claims they made about the NEO X7 when I originally bought the device, but I've come around - they've very steadily rolled out improvements for months now, and if they would just stop underclocking their stock firmwares I'd say there is no reason to dabble in third party firmware.

Finally, the latest XBMC v13 releases are getting better and better, and both libstagefright and MediaCodec are becoming increasingly mature and bug-free. MINIX themselves earned a lot more goodwill in my books by bringing on the XBMC developer koying to release XBMC for MINIX, which I highly recommend.
