    EKB311 Linux Kernel Thread

    Hello together!

I suffered weeks on my EKB311 model of the "K-R42" series. On the Box, it says Enytech EKB311 model. But I could not find any stock firmware on Enytech's Website (http://www.enybox.com). K-R42 firmware does work EXCEPT WIFI + LAN. T-R42 firmware makes it even worse.

This board has another name according to packaging from the seller: AC8350 - BX09. Reading the forums, I think I've got the ver 2.1 board model.

Specs: RK3188 Rockchip Processor, 2 GB RAM DDR3, 8 GB NAND Flash, SDCARD Reader for little SDHC cards.

"Stock" Firmware from foreign source (without right kernel for LAN support, WIFI works): http://pan.baidu.com/s/1uZqGh

Stock firmware (suggested by hackadroid in post #3): http://pan.baidu.com/s/1ntsdJkP

If you want to run Picuntu Linux on the EKB311 Box from SDCard, you can use my self-compiled kernel which supports the Ethernet LAN Chip RTL8201F: http://s000.tinyupload.com/index.php...34871732477849

Link to Picuntu Linux 4.5 Flash Tool (for Kernel insertion): http://ubuntu.g8.net/index.php/14-sample-data-articles/86-picuntu-4-5-nand-released

Link to Picuntu Linux 4.4 SDCARD Linuxroot Image (where is 4.5 ?): http://www.g8.net/download/picuntu-4-4.tgz

Picuntu default login: picuntu / 12qwaszx (english keyboard: 12qwasyx)

I bought this box too. Couldn't get any firmwares to work. This one works a treat though!

WIFI and LAN work fine. JustXBMC does not work that well, but the standard FRODO install on the XBMC website works fine. TBH MX Player works better is ES explorer to get media.

The firmware reports Bluetooth but I don't have that on my box. Very stable though and rooted / custom recovery.

      Hi TylerDurden,

Had the same issues as you with all the custom firmware releases

This one works on our model

Thanks, I'll download a copy of it and try it a later time. (because I am currently insisting on using the board with linux)

I'll edit and put your link in the first topic.

Did any one try out linux on the box? My server with Apache2, Miniserv, Proxy, iptables and X11 environment is up and stable for more than 5 days now. The CPU speed is limited at max. 1,2 Ghz.

          Hi,

Which source did you use to compile your kernel?

I've been trying to compile a Linux kernel for the T-R42 (same box with bluetooth, uses RTL8201F ethernet) to run from NAND.

I'll happily recompile from your source if you share your config so I can edit it to run on NAND. Thanks.

            Hello,

I noticed a problem with my kernel in the meantime. When I run the board as a router and start up Steam with a 1,2 MB/sek. Download Job the kernel crashes and suddenly powers off the board out of the blue.

            Things I tried:

            - running board in NAS mode, 20 MB/sec. with SDHC SMB share -> no crash
            - installing Watchdog and setting kernel.panic = 10 (for auto reboot) -> no more diagnosis possible
            - runtime without steam: stable for months
            - runtime with steam: 30 secs. up to 5 minutes
            - connected board to TV and reproduced the router crash using Steam Download Service
=> got an error message multiple times before power of the board turned off automatically:

            rk30_i2c rk30_i2c.1: Addr[0x5a] wait event timeout, state: 0, is_busy: 1, error: 0, complete_what: 0x0, ipd: 0x10

Another user on google groups got the same error in a similar situation using another hardware: https://groups.google.com/forum/#!to...xa/StBCamD1_Lo

I tried to recompile the kernel and leaving I2C_1 off but I did not succeed in preventing / working around that problem. Seems to occur under rare circumstances but it can be reproduced.

I was compiling from github/linux-rockchip/rockchip-3.0 sources. The above kernel was built with sources from 2013-12. My last rebuild attempt where I downloaded a new copy of the sources was on May 01 2014. The problem still persists.

Anyone got an idea how to solve this?

P.S. Last weekend I was able to test my kernel on an EKB311-B board. It has the same LAN adapter, but another WLAN adapter (Ralink USB) as EKB311.

TylerDurden can you please share your config so we can make also self-compiled kernel which supports the Ethernet LAN Chip RTL8201F

your kernel at tinyupload does not exist any more

              thank you

All the config files are inside d33's kernels.

Hi, Could you explain me how to mount those kernel.img with Ubuntu ? I tried rkunpack and mount -o loop without success... Does d33 or wasser's android kernels config support rtl8201F ethernet ? I just got a TV BOX labelled cyx_cs918 v 2_1. I seems to be quite same as T-R42 v2 with rtl8723as and rtl8201F. I just realise that there is apparently no linux kernel avalaible for this device and my project was to run a linux headless server on it. Maybe I would have choosen a non-bluetooth device for more compatibility... So I've to build my own kernel and I'll need your advices. Thanks for sharing your knoledge about rtl8201F support.
Cyxtech RK3188 box (cyx_cs918 v2_1) with last sock firmware and SPMC
-> It finally works like a charm !

It seems that the RTL8201F chip is not stable under some upload circumstances... anyone who has news for me on that? I also have a kernel version compiled from sources of 2014-05-01 but it has the same I2C crash problem.
