    CX-919II / J22 HDMI screen flashes

When i bought the J22 and was using it for a week with the standard ROM etc. I noticed that when watching a movie (which wasnt all that smooth to begin with) the screen sometimes went black and then jumped back to the HDMI channel (as if it switches to another channel). Now I flashed the stick to Neomode's Hybrid ROM 1.7 with a new Kernel but still I have this issue where the screen goes black for 2 seconds. Just now it seems to do it every 30 seconds or so instead of only every 5 minutes.

Is it a loose contact or something in the stick? Anyone has any idea's?

    Hello,

Try the follow, go to Settings --> HDMI --> Output Config

Then try to change it to 60 Herz when is 50 Herz.
Or 50 Herz when is on 60 Herz.

Hi Neomode, thx for the tip. It looks to be happening less frequent now but still it happens. Happens when i connect it to both my TV or my PC Monitor. Also when i connect it to my TV the screen is jumpy every 5 seconds or so and shows quick striping of like 1 pixel in height over the screen randomly. My PC Monitor seems to do it as well but can handle it better (its not jumpy on this but does show some striping)

I made a video of the problem i'm having with my CX919-II. It can be downloaded from my NAS.

        http://mnc2004.homeftp.net:8080/share.cgi?ssid=0t0zgHK

        or checked on youtube

Throughout the entire video you will see the screen twitching and also occasionally the entire screen goes black and the TV will show HDMI in top left side again. I've tried all above, even tried another male -> female HDMI cable and plugging it in directly.

The continues twitching is probably ROM installation related because that started after I flashed to Neomode's ROM with the suggested Kernel (720p one). The screen going black for a second was already going on before flashing.

I have the same problem since flashing neomode rom but it is now present even on stock rom - flickers every 5-10 seconds depending on output selected - need to fix it ASAP - hopefully someone finds a fix (only had CX-919 2 Days)

It happens the same to me. Tried all roms I found, the hdmi reso adjustment helps but it still happens quite frequently. Someone can help??
              Thanks!

I join the party... My CX-919 worked with the original stock rom, but when I flashed Finless 1.6b starts to flickering, and didn't stop when I reflashed (last) stock firmware. Now I'm trying with other roms (and previous releases of the same roms), but the only works without flickering at now is the Rescue Rom. Anyone knows why?? What hardware difference can cause this issue?

                  CX-919 flashing/flickering black/blank screen

                  Hey guys,

i have the same problem here..

Used stock rom for 4-5 days long, but wanted to flash a custom rom to try out for better/more stable wifi signals. I studied these forums about flashing and custom roms and stock rom backups. And after 2 days of 'learning', i made my 1st backup with clockworkmod(cwm) recovery made by leolas.
After managed the backup to external sd, i flashed finless bob's 1.6b custom rom to my stick and from that point, when i'm using it with my TV, screen flashing/flickering in every 1-2seconds, which is quite annoying.
When it happens, my TV shows the source mode(hmdi 1-2), blank/black screen, and after that goes back to my android stick's desktop, and begins again. This behaviour is from the booting/loading screen, not just in desktop mode. I tried to change hdmi mode in android screen settings; lowered it to 720*420 at 50Hz (not sure, don't know it by heart). This seemed like 'solves' the problem with quite ugly and granular screen. But after 20-30seconds, the problem occured again. So it happens on low resolution too, but with lower frequency.
Anyways at flashing cwm recovery and finless 1.6b custom rom, i got no errors, so flashing was successful, i'm sure about that.

After this occured and after reboot didn't solve, i reflashed a stock rom, but the problem remained. :S

I have one guess about, what can caused this problem, but i have quite bad feeling about that, i'm feeling, it was me who made it wrong. But i hope, it wasn't me. When i flashed cwm recovery to my stick, i used the micro usb port of course, but i forgot to change usb cable to DC usb (charger usb), when i made the stock system rom backup on my TV. But i assume, it should have some protection against such actions, at least i hope it has. (it was about 5-6minutes, after that i realized that i failed/forgot to change)

If anyone can help about this problem, or has any information, or solution, please let me/us know that.
                  Thanks in advance.

I have the same identical issue, and I didn't wrong with the mini usb ports, so don't worry, I don't believe it's that the problem. If you want, try this rom:

                    (second link)

and see if the flickering problem stops. For me it's the only rom that doesn't have the issue, and I'm trying to understand why, also in other posts, with the help of the experts.

I can confirm that this rom works on a cx-919 when other roms(for example: finless 1.6b or neomode hybrid rom 1.7, and stock rom after installed a custom rom) do not work.(i mean, they works fine, but the TV screen flickering in every 1-2seconds)

                      Thanks for your offer cluster_danneggiato

Now we just have to find out, why other roms didn't work the way they should. Anyone who understands these devices well and roms, could take a look at our problem.

Please, can anyone help me/us?(i can be a guinea pig too, if needed to find out what's the problem to solve this)

Same thing I am working on for the CX-919.

I took the kernel.img out of the rescue ROM. It doesn't cause flashing. The problem is not the ROM but it looks like it's the kernel.

Download this and you will use this kernel and flash it with my ROM.

                        Download this.
Then open my ROM kit and put this in the finlessROM folder.
                        Run the flash tool.
On the kernel line click the little box on the far right of the kernel line.
A file dialog will open and navigate into the finless ROM folder and select this kernel.
Uncheck everything in the flash tool except the kernel. This way you wont erase the entire ROM. However you might want to reflash everything just in case.
Put the stick in ROM flash mode
                        Flash the kernel.

Let me know if you get flicker. If you do not I can patch this kernel for OC and 1080.

"Vergib ihnen, denn sie wissen nicht, was sie tun"
"Vergeef hen want ze weten niet wat ze doen"
"Pardonne-leur car ils ne savent pas ce qu'ils font"
"Perdónalos porque no saben que lo que hacen"
"Oprosti im, jer ne znaju što čine"

Meanwhile, I found also Neomode rom 1.9a works without flickering... And it seems to have the same kernel of TV01 rom (aka Rescue Pack, that I previously named as Rescue Rom, wrongly)...

                            AW: CX-919II / J22 HDMI screen flashes

A Rom with kernel only for rk3188 will not work on the RK3188T or result in flicker.

Yes, I supposed that, and asked in another post:

But your rom, version 1.9a works fine without flickering on my unit, did you develop it for the T version, or 'simply' limited your kernel in frequency?
