If you use the usb port of the tv as a power source, you can turn it on, of course. But, this power supply is hardly enough. I don't know, somebody knows, how to build a good power supply, which can be turned on via an external input. For example, the usb is powered on, when the tv is turbed on, it might be used. As a relay switch in other electronics, if you understand, what I mean.

When I turn my PS3 on the television also comes on. When I turn off the tv, the PS3 will turn off as long as it is in the home menu. I believe the function is called easylink on my Philips tv, however there is a function in the PS3 menu that has the same capability, not sure the name.
