Please could people post their experiences with different game controllers, ease of setup etc. I am looking to buy one but really not sure which route I need to take. Thanks

I have a basic bluetooth one on the way, expecting any day now, Ill post setup when it arrives, Im using the T-r42 with built in bluetooth Ive had issues with controllers before on the ODROID.
I did try mapping keys for the keyboard but appears only 1 key was read at a time I need to write a program just to test the wireless keyboard and see if indeed 2+ keys can be read at the same time as im trying to port one of my emulators and without that it aint gonna be no good!
I also have a wired USB controller sat around I could try out
