Mygica atv580 not rooted and no otg port

    Mygica atv580 not rooted and no otg port

    Looking for solution how to root this box and install can.
    This box unlike the atv520 is Rockchip based and is not rooted
    There is no otg port on this box, only two full size usb ports.
    Why it's not rooted like light of the box like theatv520 is beyond me.
    Also disappointed that the included xbmc version is not optimised, they just installed Gotham v13 alpha7


    Only positive is that is not loaded with bloatware

    Any help would be welcomed.

      Not much to see, looks exactly the same as atv520e except it has quad core Rockchip on board.
      Very clean Android install without any bloat but since there is no otg port not much can be done.
      The pre-installed xbmc is Gotham alpha7 and even when updated to latest version if will not play HD videos in xbmc without chopping. Remote is quite good.
      I hope they have magic rabbit in the sleeve and it will be fixed soon.

          That's the problem Bob, no firmware yet available for download and no otg so no way to extract it.

            The Device has a OTG Port, but you didnt see it ;-)
            You need a Cable like this.

                Mygica may not have the firmware out but for AMLogic devices all mygica's firmware is made by Geniatech. So Geniatech may have a firmware already but under a different device name.

                  You will need ADB drivers installed and then you will dump it using ADB. If you get ADB working I will tell you how to dump it.

                  However since it's not rooted they may have turned off root in ADB! If so your not going to get it.

                    Yes, I have.
                    Install Moborobo for ADB Access then use the Package in Attachment.
                    adb.zip

                    Open ADB shell and Type in:

                    su
                    dd if=/dev/block/mtdblock1 of=/sdcard/kernel.img
                    dd if=/dev/block/mtdblock8 of=/sdcard/system.img
                    dd if=/dev/block/mtdblock2 of=/sdcard/boot.img
                    dd if=/dev/block/mtdblock3 of=/sdcard/recovery.img

                    Then you can Copy the Rom Dump from your SD Card to your PC.
                    That´s all.

                      In this version atv580 the use rk3188 and not AMLogic chip
                      Did contact them and I was told that there is nothing available but they are working on upgrade.

                          The 580 looks exactly same as 520e, they just shaped the board inside.
