Arnova 10D G3 Help or Bin It?

Hi guys, first post so go easy on me...

Been given an Arnova as a gift:

AN10DG3 running Android 4.0.3
Build Number 4.0.3 ICS Ver 1.2.0 2012-10-31-20120824.094231
Kernel Version 3.0.8

To be frank, its piss-poor and its not doing what I want it to. It will not play SkyGo (will not work on rooted devices), will not play flash video on websites, will not play streaming TV from various websites.

I've tried my best to root the device but I can't even find a download of the drivers to connect via USB to my laptop!

I'm not stupid, nor am I a novice but I am no expert!!

My question is, can you help me to get the device doing what I want please?

I want to be able to stream media, videos, tv etc
I want to be able to connect to my Samsung Smart TV to stream the same content
I want to upgrade the firmware to Jelly Bean and then Kit-Kat when its available.

Is it worth me bothering with this device? Is it any good, can I do it and will you help please!?

I can't afford to "just get an iPad or a Samsung tablet"...otherwise I would have done that already!

While most of the original members here at Freaktab basically cut out teeth on Arnova tablets, it was mainly the Rockchip processors that Arnova started out with that we learned how to develop.

I looked into this for you, but while I'm not sure exactly what processor it uses, it definitely isn't Rockchip. I downloaded a firmware update and looked at it, and I wouldn't know where to start cooking a custom ROM for it.

I rarely ever do this, but....Arctablets has some threads on this tablet, with some custom firmware bringing this tablet to at least Jellybean with Google Play Store availabity. http://www.arctablet.com/blog/forum/arnova-10d-g3/ I think that's where you need to start.

I'm sorry I couldn't be of greater help. I was hoping this tablet had a Rockchip proc in it...because I would have put together a ROM for you...but I'm just not comfortable trying to mess with an unfamiliar firmware with no tablet to test on.
