Neomode Custom Rom U30GT2 Android 4.4 Version 0.9

Neomode I have a U30GT2 on the way and hope to receive by the weekend. My plan is then to build a kitkat custom kernel, if possible, and work on a custom ROM too.
What problems need solving, if any, currently.

Hi d33. I think the most serious issue with KitKat is excessive battery drain both in stand-by and while in use. Many users would have much better KitKat experience without that issue. Thanks.

Any idea what's causing it? Excess CPU? Apps not going to sleep? Spin lock?

We don't know for sure. That's why we need you There's a much deeper discussion on ArcTablet on that issue, and KitKat itself. I've managed to get it drain only .3% per hour in stand-by by leaving stock launcher, removing live wallpaper and all widgets, put it into silent mode, Greenify all suspicious apps, recalibrating battery, WiFi optimizations, etc. But as soon I change one or two of the mentioned, all hell breaks loose. When playing simple games, battery autonomy is cut into half just after 1-2 hours. The system is indeed in deep sleep (according to all kinds of battery apps), but something "invisible" is what causing the battery drain issue. Also I forgot to mention, the UI is pretty laggy, but apps and games goes well (AnTuTu about 19-20k). Stock launcher has some micro-stutterings, but UI animation can be very slugish and be rendered at 2fps. Quite annoying too. I know it's the test version, but if I knew we would have to wait 2 months for the final version, I would downgrade to JB right now. But I hope everyday that something new will come out, or at least someone inside this community will help with their expertise. So, if you feel up to the job, just go ahead and play with it And thanks again...

Can I get a DMESG dump from a stock 4.2.2 build and the 'official' 4.4.2 beta?

On the official Beta, the display brightness isn't right. Lowest brightness setting equal max display brightness... And at the lower setting, the screen is still too bright which probaly also impact the battery life.

But just so you know, There is someone working on the official 4.4 beta at this time and I read that he is making good progress... Maybe you should just wait a bit. I'll keep everyone up-to-date on this.

Tracking says it was shipped to the UK on the 23rd so I'm hoping it won't be too long now before I have one to work on.

jy_p, you seem to know quite a lot about how the beta development process is happening in the Cube Forums. could you give the rest of us a quick summary? It seems this Kitkat beta 2 done by a group of developers outside Cube. any idea why this is? You mentioned in other post that Cube won't release anymore an official version of KitKat for the U30GT2. did you read this somewhere on the chinese official cube forum?

I had read it on the Cube forum after the beta 1 has been released. It was said that they had too many problems with it and that they give up. But then the beta 2 has been release not long after.

The BETA 2 is really nice, but the battery usage is really bad. And worst, it seems to get worst and worst after each charge. I was afraid to kill my battery so I went back to another ROM.

Neomode's ROM is really nice (other than the rotation and camera that doesn't work). But since I needed the camera, cifs, tun and everything else, I decided to go back to 900supersportROM 2.06.

As far as I understand the Chinese transition that I am reading every day, I believe that the Beta 2 is in Cube’s hands and that they are still working on it. IT has been a few days since the last post on this. I should see something new soon. I’ll keep you posted.

Dump GPIOs from the debug file system (mkdir /tmp/debugfs; mount -t debugfs none /tmp/debugfs; cat /tmp/debugfs/sh/gpio_print_enum)
List the i2c devices ( ls /sys/bus/i2c/devices; ls /sys/bus/i2c/drivers)

This would be from a stock kernel
