MK908 v3 - Disappointed with WIFI and Video playback

First thing I would like to do is to thank all those who are striving to make these Android sticks better devices. When I saw that there was a Quad core Arm chip and multiple gb of both ddr3 and NAND I wanted one. I purchased through Alibaba a couple of different types Android sticks to compare. To date I've found nothing as stable as the RPi for running XBMC or pulling and playing files off a Samba share.

On the MK908 v3 Netxeon boards I have I'm running Finless 1.7a and on those sticks WIFI connectivity and Video playback is a real concern. Streaming playback seems to do much better than playing files through a Samma share, both suffer due to network connectivity stability. I have some J22 cxytech which don't look to have as good a build quality as the Netxeon circuit board.

So what can I do to make the WIFI more stable?

youcould try something like this http://www.freaktab.com/showthread.p...a-Mod-Wifi-fix for wifi. I have no problems streaming on my 2 mk908V3 but I do use archos player and an ethernet adaptor.

@stevvieb appreciate the comment, but it's not a reception quality problem. I connect to the WIFI router downstairs no problem, as do 3 raspberry pi units I have throughout the house. The problem is I loose connection, and perhaps it's not network connectivity but the samba client that connects to my NAS.

I've only tried MX Player, and whatever player the XBMC 12.3 version comes with. Playing streams works better than playing files from the NAS, but they both loose connectivity and provide me time-out messages.

If I need to provide more specific information, point me in the direction of the logs I have to capture, as I would like to resolve this issue and adopt these Quad core devices to replace the RPi's I have.

try using one the patched oc kernels I posted here

DDR 720 seems to be the sweet spot for playback but not every stick will do that
the native RKvideo app will provide the best playback
        current devices(rockchip sucks)
Hardkernel ODROID C1 running android kitkat
Hardkernel ODROID XU3-L Running Linux/openelec (primary media server)
rPi model B+ running nothing ... bricked
