Problems Removing A Picture On Polaroid PMID 701i Tablet

My Polaroid PMID 701i tablet that was on sale for $99 in Big Lots came with some sample pictures on it which were of people I don't know. I deleted them. Even tho I deleted them, one of the pics still shows up as an icon on my front screen with some of my pics behind it. I searched and it does not show up as having that picture on there even tho it still shows on the front screen. How on earth do I get it to stop showing up on my front screen and instead show one of my pics? Thanks to whoever knows the info.

I can help you get rid of the unwanted pictures. Just long touch whichever picture (or anything else) you don't want on that screen. At the top of the screen, you'll see the word "REMOVE" whenever you long touch anything ... just drag whatever it is you don't want towards the "REMOVE." Should be gone in one steady swipe! (However, it's not gone from the Polaroid totally. It's still somewhere in the Widgets ... under Gallery.)

Sorry, don't know how to get your own pictures in there ... yet.

Thanks for the info. I tried that but that one pic still shows up on the desktop and I can't figure out why when I deleted it. I have my pics on there just fine. I just couldn't get them to show up on that gallery widget instead of the one of Polaroids. Guess I'll have to try tweaking it some more and see what I get.

I unintentionally got rid of those picture on my tablet. Apparently they're not provided in the factory ROM because they disappeared after I reflashed my tablet.

Maybe I need to reflash my tablet. But I don't want to do anything that erases my settings and programs tho.

Delete the widget and reinstall it

The pictures on the home screen are displayed by a widget. I would try deleting the widget by long clicking the group of pictures and dragging the bunch to the remove icon. Then go to your app page and notice at the upper left it will show that you are on a page of apps, and next to that there is a section indicating widgets. Tap on widgets and you will be on your widget page. Now you should see that multi picture widget somewhere on the widget pages. Find it and give it a long press. It will now be placed onto your home screen. Hopefully, if you have already deleted the unwanted picture, it will be gone from the new widget display. Its worth a try.

              Hello!

No need to reflash to remove these pictures. A tablet I had to return taught me that a factory reset will delete them, too, but that is also unnecessary.

These pictures can be deleted, or replaced by more suitable subject matter, by directing the file editor of your choice to /mnt/sdcard/picture.

Without citing specific examples or expressing any personal opinions, ST has elected to feature subject matter to the public on their tablets that is better left unpresented, as it could possibly be construed as their promoting, as a corporate entity, an agenda that some segments of their customer base might consider to be disturbing and/or offensive. The fact that people are requesting assistance in removing these preloaded images indicates that there may be those out there who prefer not to be exposed to such material.

In addition, it could also serve to reinforce the perception held by some of their customer base of a lack of concern about a corporate image that has already been tarnished by the firmware support issues. They obviously do not realize that these things not only affect their public image, but could potentially also affect the corporate image their resellers might want presented by their suppliers on their behalf.

One reseller alone has at least several hundred, if not a thousand or more, outlets that could potentially be negatively affected by this. Is this just an act of someone who elected to make an unauthorized decision of their own accord, or is it ST corporate policy to bite the hand that feeds them? Given the firmware issue and this latest faux pas, I cannot help but suspect the latter.

Whoever at ST is responsible for the presentation of this material on the home screens of these tablets should have their employment terminated the company, and any attempt on their part to collect unemployment benefits fought against to the bitter end.

This latest stunt is even more unacceptable than the firmware issue. Who knows what's coming down this pipe next?
