    New - RemixOS - S95 Telos - Finless style :)

    Hi Folks!

    Well some seem to like the Remix OS and also wanted it rooted...

    Well here you go.... The Telos Remix OS ROM tweaked by me Finless style

    So any donations would be nice especially if you like this ROM!

    WARNING! In order to debloat and clean up this ROM I have to format /data partition and thus you will loose all your data!

    You have been warned! Please backup your stuff.


    This ROM is for the S95 Telos only! Later I may port to the Meta and Pro.

    This ROM is based off the S95 Telos Remix OS BETA ROM.


    Install instructions:

    This is a pretty easy install but please make sure you do exactly what I list here.

    1) Download this ROM (finless_remixos_1.0_S95_telos.zip). DO NOT unzip it!
    2) Copy the zip to a SDcard. Make sure it is a good SDcard and not corrupt. If your not sure, format it FAT32.
    3) Make sure you do NOT have a recovery.img on SDcard that you used for something else. This ZIP is properly signed for the Tronsmart recovery in the box now.
    4) Go into APPs and run the Update&Backup APP.
    5) On the right side under "Local Update", click the select button.
    6) It should open a list of ZIP files on your SDcard. Select finless_remixos_1.0_S95_telos.zip.
    7) Now click the update button.
    8) The system will reboot into Recovery but will not show any menus.
    Also PLEASE NOTE: The stock ROM 20160109 had a bug with the boot logo. So your screen will be black for a while. PLEASE wait for recovery to come up!
    If you wait longer than about 1 full minute, then something else is wrong. You might have to reflash a stock ROM.
    9) The green Android man will show up and update the ROM. Do not do anything until it is finished!
    10) The system will reboot on it's own and boot the new ROM.

    Please note, this ROM takes longer to boot the first time than the stock ROM. The reason is it has be Deodex'ed. See below.

    Change Log / Features:

    1) I have completely debloated this ROM! For those that want to start clean... you have a base ROM to work with!
    None- of the pre-install APPs are there either.

    2) The ROM is Deodex'ed. I find that this makes the system faster.
    First boot after flashing takes longer but after that... It is much faster at booting!
    Watch how fast it boots up after reboots. Barely enough time to see the boot animation
    Also having a deodex'ed ROM allows ROM tool APPS to be able to do things like theming etc.

    3) I changed the default settings for:
    Installing non-market Apps = true
    Check with google about non-market Apps = False
    So now if you want to install an APP from SDcard, etc you won't get bugged to change settings!

    4) Did some small tweaking to buffers so you may see better Wifi performance.

    5) This ROM is rooted fully and properly!

    6) Added a reboot APP so you can actually reboot into recovery!
    The stock Remix ROM had no way to allow you to boot into recovery to install new ROMs or updates!
    Now you can... So if you want to flash back to Android you can use a SDcard method by using the reboot APP
    and rebooting into recovery!
    I will give you a TWRP recovery very soon too

    7) Added init.d script support as I do in all my ROMs.

    8) I added Xbox and Game controller KO modules. These should no be supported but I did not test it as I do not have a Xbox controller.
    My game controller I have works.

    9) Did some theming like wallpaper, boot logo, etc... Hope you like it.

    10) Some other tweaks here and there I cannot remember them all... Nothing that big just some clean up and tweaks.

    Outstanding. I have been going back and forth from 5.1 to Remix. I like Remix, but not having root holds it back. If it makes it to the Meta, I may not switch back to 5.1 anytime soon.
    I'm not always with the box, but if you do a Meta version, I will test it as soon as I get to the S95.
    Any chance at a Remix EZ root Zip?

    BTW In Remix, if developer options is set and USB debugging is enabled, you can get to recovery from the Terminal Emulator for Android, by entering adb reboot recovery.

      I did not know you could get into recovery that way!

      If so I can make an EZ root. But of course my version is better that just an EX root

      After I get some feedback on this ROM I can work on doing it or the Meta and Pro.

        Yes your Remix ROM would be preferred. I only mentioned the EZ root Zip in case you could not get time for the whole ROM on the Meta.
        I will test your Telos Remix on the Meta if it will help with the Telos. Of course, I could not test the WiFi or BT or SATA.
        BTW, I sent you a little cheese for your crackers this last week. I hope you received it.

                  just downloaded and used the adb reboot recovery command to boot into Android recovery and flash this zip, worth Noting i am on the current Remix OS release on the S95 Telos but would like root and a debloated version. when flashing i get 1.4 of the way through the verify package and it fails. img for reference on errors.

                    Hello, Flashing using the SD card method while Remix OS is installed is not known to work AFAIK. Using "adb reboot recovery" will get to recovery. I tried to use Bob's EZ root Zip(5.1) on Remix to see if it would work. While it did not work, I'm certain it ran. I will be trying to flash back to 5.1 from Remix tonight, I'll post back with my results and method if successful.

                      It because the remix os recovery used different keys for signing zips. If you put the recovery.img from my EZ root on SDcard then it will boot that recovery and my ROM should the install.

                        I cannot get this to work?
                        I turn on developer options
                        I turn on ADB debugging
                        I run the terminal emulator
                        I type adb reboot recovery
                        Terminal emulator says starting daemon but says it is unauthorized?
                        Then it says daemon started but doesn't reboot?

                        I must be missing something here.

                          i had the same issue as this at first install busy box and then it seemed to work i believe it updates the adb file, once i did that and i hit the adb reboot recovery it prompted me to trust the machine RSA hit ok ran command again and boom into recovery.

                          i will test the EZRoot recovery.img laterz and let you know if i got it going.

                            Finless, Developer options - On
                            USB debugging - On
                            Terminal Emulator for Android(Jack Palevich) - Enter adb reboot recovery
                            A permission dialog pops up, select OK, if after selecting, the terminal says not authorized, enter adb reboot recovery again and it should reboot to the stock recovery.
                            NOTE: If the permission dialog is not cleared fast enough, the terminal throws the not authorized error. If the permission dialog popup was cleared, re-enter adb reboot recovery, the permission dialog box won't popup the second time and it should reboot to recovery.


                            I have not been able to get anything to actually work. I get to the stock recovery and select update from EXT, SDCARD, and pick the file. It always throws a signature error. I assume this is for the reason you stated a couple of posts back about the recovery.img.
                            It would be handy if you can get this working to flash, as currently, moving from Remix OS to Android requires a PC.


                            BTW, From my experiment to see if your 5.1 ezroot.zip would work to root Remix OS,. When I tried this with your original EZ root Zip on SD card, I renamed ezroot.zip to update.zip. Using the terminal, I entered "adb reboot update". The box rebooted, the android with the gear, and a progress bar showed. Once complete, the box attempted to reboot, but was stuck on the Remix boot animation.
                            I assumed it ran, as it broke Remix. Required a reflash to fix.

                              I never get the dialog pop up!
                              Strange....

                              The reason you got my EX root to run without signature error is because my EZ root comes with a recovery.img you put on SDcard. So when the box loaded recovery, it loaded the one on SDcard.
                              AMLogic boxes work this way. It firsts looks for a recovery on SDcard and then if it doesn't find one there uses the one in MMC.
