I'm not really sold on 905x yet, but very sensible hardware/ FW selection...I'm feeling ugoos too.

Since it says it is a samba server, that is what I am looking for. I would like to know the transfer rates over ethernet. I would like to see and external hard drive connected to the USB 3 port, transfer files what were the lan via Ethernet.

Right now, I have an 8 terabyte external hard drive, that I have been bouncing from Windows 10 computers and NAS's, to see which device gives me the fastest transfer rate.
That is what I would be interested in. Reading from an external hard drive and transferring to files over ethernet.

GB: under 55 usd, the approx size of a fire stick?
Looking forward to your thorough tests for smooth and stable video play: yTube, iptv, ustvnow, maybe cinema or the like.
Want to guess whether this ugoos will get some dev. attention, or support some form of 905x rom ports to it?
                  Thnx!

It will be pretty much save as other 905x2 and being A9 should do pretty well with all video playback.

Not a big Video Junky/IPTV etc with these boxes myself to much BS I find with what does and doesn't and what can and cant play I feel.
720 or 1080 does me..Being part Ugoos I think you will find it will facilitate your needs

That is amazing for a samba server. Wish it had more than one USB 3 ports. I could stick that device any where out of sight, along with an external hard drive.

                    Okay. But...
Promoted for, bought and used by many (& me) as a video player and a sbc (lite).
After the n6 disaster... It would be reassuring to get a confirmation from you, that the devices' demonstrate compatibility and stability with Google suit products. And more than minimal stability sourcing and playing video.
Not too much to expect, is it?
Idk about the BS of which you speak... I do wish to avoid importing any more, pretty much full up of late.

Yep we all have those type of stories,

I purchased an Allwinner AW80 it was a promise of the Next Big Thing at the time,
It was new a complete unknown, No info at the time to go, only Vendors and Spec sheets, looked great.
It was a first, it was risk at 180$ at the time that was near on 4 years ago or more.
it was not good but "OK" just like your situation now.

The N6 you speak as with other 3399 been out for a long time.
Plenty of info available at the time, and most tend to fail from lack of RK and Vendors support,
They just did not complete the Job 100% or bit of more than they could chew.

3399 works well for certain applications, has the speed and power just not to good in some area's for your needs.

Is the x2 a locked down bootloader?
... A major flaw to any flexibility in the n6? Correct?
The x2 is in the running between 3 or 4 devices I want to pull a trigger on, that or wait for 3Q soc coming out.
That or abandoned a "packaged" set-top for a pi series having a large selection fw.
                        ... Just can't do another n6 fiasco.
That leads me to say numbers are really interesting, user experience is really important.
